Organisers of Lindisfarne Festival have announced their first big wave of acts for the 2020 summer festival, which following a successful crowdfunding campaign in November raising over £85,000, is set to take place at Beal Farm on the Northumberland coast for the sixth consecutive year from 3rd – 6th Sept.
Headlining Saturday night of the three-day music and arts extravaganza is electronic music duo, Groove Armada. Famed for their chart-topping singles “I see you baby” and “Superstylin”, the group have released eight studio albums, four of which have charted in the UK Albums Chart top 50.
Also confirmed to take to the mainstage but on the Friday evening will be Alabama 3, renowned for their mix of electronica, alternative rock, acid jazz, trip hop and their track ‘Woke Up This Morning’ which forms the opening credits of TV series, The Sopranos.
In addition, the 2020 event also sees the return of Craig Charles Funk and Soul Club who will be headlining the Thursday evening. They will be accompanied by a host of acts over the weekend from a range of musical genres including Dutty Moonshine Big Band, Fabio + Groove Rider, Zion Train, DJ Rap, Letz Zep, The Destroyers, Backyard Rhythm Orchestra, Cut Capers, The Bar-stewards of Val Doonican, Voice of the Town, Sister Suze, Black Cat Bone, Amy Montgomerie, Gleadrich and Rachael Croft.
The over 18’s camping festival, which is aptly known as “the ultimate end-of-summer party”, will play host to a diverse line up of 200+ musicians, comedians and performing artists over its 10 unique stages. There’ll also be a strong programme of creative workshops, comedy, spoken word, yoga and holistic therapies on offer as well as luxury glamping packages for those not so keen on camping!
With over 5000 people in attendance at the spectacular site overlooking Holy Island last summer, the independent festival has achieved significant growth in audience numbers since the inaugural event in 2015.
Conleth Maenpaa, founder of Lindisfarne Festival commented: “We are beyond excited to have Groove Armada headlining our Saturday evening slot. As one of the planet's best-loved and biggest selling dance acts, we know these guys will be a popular choice with festival goers!
Following growing demand, we are also pleased to open our gates again on the Thursday night, giving people the chance to make a full weekend of it.
And we don’t stop there. With so much more in the pipeline, another 100 acts are still to be announced including our Friday night headliner. We will continue to invest in making Lindisfarne Festival better each year, which is demonstrated most recently by our rebrand and new website. We will also be unveiling a new stage for this year, and as ever will have a huge range of entertainers and performing artists. It’s going to be another amazing and unreal weekend and we are so excited to share our plans over the coming months!”
Conleth added: “We are also proud to be doing our bit for charity and once again raising funds for Crisis via Musicians Against Homelessness.”
