New Series of UK Concerts Announced for 2018

Northumbria’s historic Alnwick Castle will welcome a brand-new series of nationwide concerts in 2018 with Summer House Sounds.

Presented by live music promoters Cuffe and Taylor, Summer House Sounds is about bringing music to the people in unique and beautiful locations.

And Alnwick Castle will see headline concerts and performances from super cool disco king Nile Rodgers and his band CHIC, music legend Tom Jones, British pop icons Madness, andthe world’s most successful classical crossover group Il Divo during a week of live music in July.

The Summer House Sounds series will also see headline concerts at some of the UK’s most historic and beautiful stately homes and castles further afield in Berkshire, Suffolk, Warwickshire, Hampshire and Leicestershire.

The Alnwick Castle Summer House Sounds series is:

  • 11 July – Nile Rodgers & CHIC with support from Sister Sledge
  • 13 July – Tom Jones with support from Into The Ark
  • 14 July – Madness
  • 15 July – Il Divo

Cuffe and Taylor director Peter Taylor said: “We’re delighted to be presenting Summer House Sounds across the UK this July and are especially delighted to be doing so at Alnwick Castle.

“Since our inception more than nine years ago Cuffe and Taylor’s ethos has always been about taking music to the people and working in areas that don’t tend to attract huge household names.

“Cuffe and Taylor does this exceptionally well with past successes including the record-selling 2016 Rod Stewart Hits Tour where we presented Rod at football clubs throughout the UK including far-flung locations such as Inverness and Kilmarnock who, until then, had not experienced many big-name stars.

“We’ve not worked with Alnwick Castle previously so to be bringing such a stellar line-up to this most magnificent location this year is very exciting.

“Last year we worked with some of the stately homes which are included in Summer House Sounds to present the sold-out Cliff Richard and Ball and Boe tours. We are returning to those destinations again this summer but with more artists and more dates to make a really special event for those locations. And to be presenting a series of concerts for the first time at Alnwick is something we are very much looking forward to.”

Alnwick Castle is the one of the largest inhabited castles in England; it has been home to the Duke of Northumberland’s family, the Percys, for over 700 years.

Combining magnificent medieval architecture with spectacular Italianate State Rooms, Alnwick Castle is one of the UK’s most significant heritage destinations. In recent years, it has taken starring roles in a number of film and television productions, most famously featuring as Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in the Harry Potter films and as Brancaster Castle in ITV’s Downton Abbey.
