A first for Alnwick as the Castle welcomes guests to a very special Mother’s Day Lunch

…because mums deserve to be treated like royalty!

Mother’s Day is already fast approaching and it’s early this year – 11th March – so don’t wait until everywhere is booked and risk disappointing the family (or worse - end up cooking yourself!).

Why not treat Mum like royalty with an extra special Mother’s Day Lunch this year at Sanctuary Dining at Alnwick Castle? Fabulous food in fantastic surroundings for a very special lady!

This unique dining experience is only available on a few days each year and for Mother’s Day, Sanctuary Dining will be located in Alnwick Castle’s magnificent Guest Hall!   As a result, lunch here is certainly no everyday occasion and this celebration at Alnwick Castle is an experience you will all remember for years to come!

You’ll find Sanctuary Dining is superb quality, reasonably priced and certainly very different to all the other restaurants around. For a start you’ll be celebrating and enjoying an extremely tasty meal in the splendid but relaxed atmosphere of a 700-year-old castle.

All food is carefully prepared by the talented and experienced Alnwick Castle catering team, led by Head Chef Jonathan. They create exquisite wedding and event banquets for extremely discerning guests all year round and delight in preparing food for smaller, more intimate gatherings.

As well as a great selection of starters, main courses and desserts (three courses for £25.00), children don’t miss out, as the team have also prepared a special three-course kids’ menu or half portion menu (£14.50) – so everyone can enjoy this important occasion in true style.

Guest of honour Mum and grown-ups can choose from great starters to include chargrilled asparagus with poached egg on soda bread, home-made soup with artisan bread – or garlic and chilli fried king prawns.

There’s a selection of tasty roasts including rib of beef, loin of pork, butter roasted organic chicken, pan-fried fillet of sea trout and baked ricotta gnocchi as a vegetarian option for a main course.

And the luscious desserts are second to none!  How can you choose between all these gorgeous offers: banana and toffee cheesecake; apple and rhubarb crumble; or dark chocolate brownie with clotted ice cream and raspberries?

Children have an equally fabulous menu all to themselves - tomato soup or mozzarella sticks and homemade ketchup for dipping; and for main course they can have a half portion of any roast dinner or crispy chicken strips served with chips.  Kids’ desserts include a selection of gorgeous ice creams, warm chocolate waffle and dark chocolate brownie with ice cream and raspberries.

Reservations are essential for this Mother’s Day Sunday Lunch at Alnwick Castle and you are advised to book early to avoid disappointment.
Lunch on Sunday 11th March is served between 12 noon and 2.30pm.
