Christmas shoppers visiting Morpeth throughout December will have the opportunity to use a park and ride service which will take them straight into the heart of the town.
On Saturday December 12th and 19th a park and ride system will be running from the County Hall car park to the Morpeth Bus Station from 9am to 6pm.
A Chamber of Trade and Sanderson Arcade initiative the park and ride scheme has been set up to relieve car parking in the town centre and make it as easy as possible for customers to shop in town over the festive period.
The double decker bus operated by Arriva will pick up from County Hall every half an hour from 9am and arrive at Morpeth Bus Station 15 minutes later. A full timetable will be made available on the More in Morpeth and Sanderson Arcade website.
George Williams, Chair of the Morpeth Chamber of Trade said, ‘We hope a lot of the residents in Morpeth will use this service which is being provided free of charge.
“There is a lot happening in Morpeth over Christmas with great shops in the town which we really want people to take advantage of, without having to worry about finding a car parking space.”
