Wooler Cycle Hub guided leisure rides are free and take place on Saturdays, starting and ending in Wooler unless stated otherwise. They include stops for refreshments and to explore places of interest. Dates for 2015 are as follows:
30 May. The Cross & The Sword
A gorgeous ride through a secret landscape rich in heritage, ancient churches, castles and sweeping views. One of the WCH waymarked routes. All on-road. 22 miles. Undulating.
27 June. Riding to Rock Art
Getting off the beaten track in the Doddington area to visit enigmatic 5000-year old rock carvings and a hidden waterfall. Off-road and on-road segments.
~20 miles. Hilly.
18 July. Glendale Festival Ride
A short family ride along beautiful quiet country lanes around Wooler. Takes place the day before the Glendale Festival of street music and performance in Wooler. All on-road. 13 miles.
8 August. Bang, bang, you're.....
....in the Otterburn Firing Ranges. An exhilarating ride along superb military roads within view of bastles and rusting tank hulks and climaxing in an exciting descent down Upper Coquetdale. Starts and finishes in Alwinton. All on-road. ~43 miles. Hilly.
29 August. The Tour of Britain 2015 route
The Tour comes through Northumberland in September. This leisure ride will preview a 30 mile section of the route (when confirmed). All on-road. ~60 miles (shorter option ~30 miles). Hilly.
