Decent

drewedmin999, newcastle upon tyne
Excellent variety of well cared for animals They have the usual array of goats, cows, pigs etc... as well as lots of other species you wouldn’t expect to find. They have reptiles, meerkats they let you feed at certain times, owls and birds or prey that can be handled, wallabies, deer etc... There are lots of opportunities to hand feed the animals, get up close to them and stroke them. There are also trampolines, pedal tractors and lots of things for kids to let steam off on There is a decent cafe and also a good indoor are for picnics. Gets very muddy but overall an excellent few hours.

Best Santa

Nicks1112, Gateshead, United Kingdom
We loved our visit to Santa, all of the staff were terrific and the atmosphere really helped our build up to Christmas. The farm itself was nice, with plenty of indoor animals, opportunities to pet and feed. Outdoor was slightly lacking with empty fields but there was lots to do including go karts, tractor rides and play areas. The best part of the experience was a real Santa, he looks the part, talks it and is magical. We love that he has a real Santa beard, traditional outfit and plays the part well. It would be nice for Santa to tell different stories Year in year out, but our kids are too young to remember last year, and he’s still engaging to adults so that’s a minor piece of feedback really.

Whitehouse Farm Centre replied: Happy New Year to you and your family, we hope you had a fantastic Christmas too. Thank you for taking the time to leave us this lovely feedback, we are so pleased you enjoyed your visit to the farm and of course 'the real Santa'. Just to touch on your points about the outdoor animals, we do in the warmer weather have lots of animals around the outdoor walkway and in the fields. However the welfare and comfort of our animals is so important to us, we have moved them all indoors for the cooler winter months. We will be looking at adding some notices to explain this in future so our customers are not disappointed. We look forward to welcoming you and your family back to the farm soon.

WINTER WONDERLAND - QUEUING FOREVER !

J7313NRandrewh, Newcastle upon Tyne, United Kingdom
My Wife and I took our 2 grandchildren (aged 2 and 5) to the Farm last weekend and to be honest I was a little disappointed . The main problem was there was no appointed times to see Santa , you basically had to stand in a very long queue ! .My 2 year old got so fed up of waiting that we left without seeing Father Christmas. My wife however did stay the distance with our 5 year old grandson but had to endure 11/2 hours in the queue. Last year we went to Northumberlandia and they had allotted times for you which was far more organised (and no queues) . Another negative point is that the ring slide is not included in the entrance fee and you are charged £1 extra to slide down a filthy hill 5 times (Adventure Valley - no charge !) On a plus point , the animals seem well looked after (well the ones that were actually there - several empty pens / cages ) The staff were helpful and friendly , and the Cafe was very reasonably priced - best thing on the day - the carrot cake & tea ! sums it up really - sorry I wont rush back next year !

Whitehouse Farm Centre replied: Thank you for taking the time to leave a review for us, we are sorry to hear you were disappointed following your visit to Winter Wonderland. We did have a particularly busy day when you visited with lots of families wanting to see Santa. The queues can get a little long, however our feedback has been consistent that the experience with Santa is worth the wait. Santa likes to spend a lot of time with each child, we offer more than a quick photo opportunity and we know the children are really enjoying this special time with Santa. We opted against the time slot approach as our experience and feedback from both visitors and other venues Trip Advisor feedback is that the time slots rarely run to schedule (especially at a venue this size) and people are left very disappointed when slots are filled. This way we can help as many families as possible enjoy a visit to Santa without needing to pre-book sometimes months in advance. Many of our animals have been moved from their usual location due to the cold weather, which is why you may have noticed several empty pens. Our team are very passionate about the care of our animals, and their welfare is paramount. We are looking at perhaps putting some signage in the empty pens to let customers know where the animals have been moved too. It’s great to hear you found our staff friendly and helpful, our team take great pride in their work and customer service/good visitor experience is something we are all passionate about. We are pleased you enjoyed your visit to our café, I must say I enjoy a slice of our carrot cake too!!!!!!! Hope you and your family have a lovely Christmas.
