For the Love of the North comes to Northumberland

Revelling in anything Northern ‘For the Love of the North’ is a growing brand across the North East which has begun to grab the attention and the hearts of people beyond Newcastle upon Tyne.

Just two years since they first opened their doors to the people of Whitley Bay, local couple Paul and Lucy Hull have expanded their regional treasure For the Love of the North with the opening of a third shop in Corbridge.

The opening follows the success of the business which originated as an online-only company that used a combination of Paul’s expertise in the tourism sector and the shared passion and creativity of both Lucy and Paul and their ever-growing family of artists and creatives.

The shop works with around seventy creatives from around the region to produce framed prints, mugs, tote bags and other gifts relating to the north east. Co-founder Paul says that working with a variety of creatives is a “rewarding and exciting way to support local artists and their work” whilst simultaneously uniting the community in celebration of the north east.

Lucy said: “The opening of the new Corbridge store will welcome exciting opportunities for us and allow us to work with some new creatives to produce work related to the Tyne Valley and the countryside.

“We immediately felt at home in Corbridge, everyone gave us such a warm welcome and has shared our enthusiasm for the work of local artists. We can’t wait to fully settle in and get started on collaborating with the artists, producing more high-quality products that celebrate the beauty of our amazing region.”

The shop also hosts a gallery wall space where every couple of months a North East based artist shall be exhibiting their work with each exhibition promising to showcase the diverse creative talents of the region.

Alongside Paul and Lucy’s latest success, the pair have also started to gain national recognition in Northern Soul’s shortlist of Top 50 Great Northerners. The pair were nominated in the 2018 list which recognises anything from small businesses to northern theatre groups. Paul said: “we are flabbergasted at the response from beyond the north east and we can’t wait to see what the future holds for For the Love of the North.”
