Coast, Castle and Countryside Trail

To mark English Tourism Week (March 5 – 13) a new trail along the north east coast has been launched to make it easier for visitors to experience the wealth of coastal attractions in the region.

The ‘Coast, Castles and Countryside’ trail has been introduced by The Inn Collection Group with visitors choosing to stay at The Kings Head Inn in North Yorkshire, The Seaton Lane Inn in Durham and The Lindisfarne Inn in Northumberland in any order.

Staying at the three Inns means a visitor is never more than a half-an-hour from the coast or a castle, whilst being close to the countryside.

Roseberry Topping, North Yorkshire Moors, North Yorkshire & Cleveland Heritage Coast, Durham Heritage Coast, UNESCO WHS Durham Cathedral & Castle, Chillingham Castle, Bamburgh Castle, Dunstanburgh Castle, Alnwick Castle, Northumberland National Park and Holy Island are all within easy reach of the three Inns.

A three-night stay with dinner, bed and breakfast for two people before 20th March is just £240. Book during English Tourism Week and receive a further 10% discount.

Keith Liddell, CEO of The Inn Collection Group said: “We are very lucky to have Inns located in amazing positions along the north east coastline and that are all within easy reach of some of the region’s best and most-loved attractions."

The Kings Head Inn is located in the picture-postcard village of Newton under Roseberry and sits beneath iconic Roseberry Topping – Cleveland’s ‘Matterhorn of the North’. This charming inn with 12 en-suite bedrooms is wrapped around by the North York Moors National Park, the Cleveland Way and is close to Yorkshire’s seaside gems of Staithes, Whitby and Scarborough, The King’s Head Inn is just a short drive from Middlesbrough and the Tees Valley, too.

The Lindisfarne Inn located close to Holy Island and just south of Berwick-upon-Tweed, is perfect for visiting Northumberland and for forays into the Scottish Borders. Right on the new Sandstone Way and Coast & Castle cycle routes and with the famous walking trails of St. Oswald’s Way and St. Cuthbert’s Way passing nearby, The Lindisfarne Inn with 21 en-suite bedrooms is just the place to eat, drink and stay for walkers, cyclists and bird watchers who flock to the Northumberland Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

The Seaton Lane Inn is located just minutes away from Durham’s dramatic heritage coastline and within easy reach of Sunderland, Newcastle and Durham city centres. Nestled in the peaceful village of Seaton, just off the A19, The Seaton Lane Inn is a traditional country pub with rooms where you can tuck into quality local food served all day, every day and sleep soundly in one of the 18 en-suite bedrooms
