We had a 'one nighter' here to see a band and were wowed by the Inn. Its an amazing building that has been incredibly well refurbished, there are lots of public rooms of varying sizes, perfect for private functions, the food was excellent, good portion sizes and nicely presented, breakfast too was good and again plenty of it. The room we had (2) was so comfy and so well kitted out we didn't want to leave it! The bathroom had a shower cubicle you could get lost in and everything was gleamingly clean. The staff we had dealings with were helpful and cheerful and seemed happy at their work. P.S The band was good too!

Very friendly welcoming staff for people and dogs. We had a bar meal which was excellent and the staff were aware of food alergies and intolerances and were able to adapt the menu to suit. The room was big and comfortable. Will probably stay again when we have to be in Morpeth.

A real find!

This hotel has reopened recently following refurbishment and it far exceeded my expectations. Although there is building work going on around on a new housing development as some of the other reviews indicated, the outlook at the front of the hotel is very green, open and pleasant. The hotel has retained some of the character of the former hospital but the rooms are modern and stylish. My room was luxurious and large even though it was at the back of the hotel in a dog-friendly room. The staff were welcoming and helpful and the breakfast delicious. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it or to go back to it. It was a real treat on my journey from Scotland to the Midlands.

One night stopover

Spent a night here on a road trip around the UK. Special mention to Nicholas and his wonderful customer service skills. (As promised!) We stayed in Kielder room, right by the kitchen extractor pipe - which other reviewers have mentioned but is switched off between 10.30pm and 9am so didn’t cause too many problems. Location is a little of the beaten track and I would have thought was once in the middle of some beautiful countryside - however now resides in the middle of a ‘Bellway Homes’ development. Didn’t cause us too many problems but views from the bedrooms to the rear consist of bricks. Construction doesn’t start til 9am so didn’t really interfere with sleep. Our room was huge with large bed and a nice eclectic mix of new and traditional furniture. There was a good choice of drinks as well as toiletries and breakfast in the morning was served in a beautiful dining area. Those staying for the night can eat in the restaurant (lovely food) and relax with a pint by the log burner, so there really is no need to leave the area once you’ve settled down. Only recommendation for the hotel is to market clearly where guests should check in. (By the coffee machine to the left of the bar in case you are wondering)

Perfect one night stay

Stayed at St Mary’s Inn for one night whilst on business in the area. Lovely large nicely decorated room with comfy bed and pillows. Big fluffy towels and White Company Toiletries! Travelling with a colleague so had the steak night deal with two steaks and sides and a bottle of wine for £30 which was really good. Nice pub with lots of nice touches. Would definitely recommend this hotel.
