Breakfast break after overnight drive

Richard-de-G, Weybridge, United Kingdom
Stopped for breakfast after a long drive, cheerful efficient staff and the food was plentiful, well presented and reasonably priced. It's not fine dining and some parts of the facilities are basic, but it's well located for seeing parts of Northumberland and for those heating further North or passing by heading South. We would visit again. There are rooms available for overnight stays, worth noting if you need to break your journey.

Basic but good

The downsides are that the decor is a little tired and the shower grout needs a good scrub. The door locks are not great on the rooms. The room was clean and functional and the views across the fields were great. We had breakfast which was well cooked and presented. (I enjoyed not watching people wasting mounds of breakfast buffet or letting their children pile food on their plates only to leave it.) The staff were professional polite and friendly and I would say this is a good base to explore the area.

Dont waste your time visiting this place.

I stopped here on the way back from Aberdeen, There was three people who had been served and it was 2.45pm We were the only other people in the café. My Wife got a cold sandwich and I ordered quaretrpound burger and chips. My wife was going to have half of the chips with her sandwich. 30 minutes later I went to enquire why it was taking so long. It turned out that they hadn't processed my order and I was asked if I wanted to wait while they cooked it. I asked for a refund and waited till I got home as this had extended our journey by 40minutes already. Waste of time I wont be stopping there again. There is a McDonalds about ten miles either side. Probably a better bet.

Another Excellent visit

We stayed for 5 nights at the end of August, for our 2nd visit, which was just as good as the previous visit last year. From the moment we arrived till the day we left, all the staff and overall stay was 1st class. The breakfasts and evening meals were both excellent, with plenty of choices. Purdy Lodge IS THE IDEAL BASE for visiting Northumberland, so much to see and do Edinburgh is also not too far away to visit Thank you to ALL THE STAFF at Purdy Lodge for making our holiday complete Regards Ian, Kathleen and Lynn

5 Star help in an emergency

SeniorWalker, North Yorks
My husband became unwell during our recent drive from Berwick to North Yorkshire. It was evening and we realised we couldn't possibly get home. We stopped at the Purdy Lodge to ask if there were rooms available for the family that night. Unfortunately they were fully booked. However the lady at reception helped my husband, gave him water and offered a place to rest while she found an alternative room for us at another nearby hotel. We are so grateful for her help as she did more than she needed to without asking. We can't comment on the hotel facilities as we didn't stay there. But if the lady at reception is anything to go by you will be very well looked after. Thank you!
