very nice

gary s, Newcastle upon Tyne, United Kingdom
called in as part of bus tour going to edinburgh, was pleasantly surprised. We only had a hour, but in that time were served a lovely meal and coffee each. All tasted lovely and well priced. The place was nice and warm and cosy, will deffo go again.

Sunday lunch

Myself and a few friends stoped here on our way to Selkirk looking for a hot meal. We were quickly seen too by a lovely girl who showed us to a table in the restaurant. 2 of us had beef and 1 had the turkey. Wow!! Has to be the best Sunday lunch I've had for a long time everything was cooked perfectly and very tasty. I'm so pleased we decided too stop here. I'll certainly be calling in again for a Sunday dinner

Lovely stop over

Stayed her for 1 night to break up my journey south. Luckily a room was available the check in was simple and efficient with a very friendly receptionist on duty. I was on the ground floor so as it was around 7ish when I checked in thought I'd drop my bag in and have a bite too eat. My room was lovely and clean the heating was on so it was nice and warm as was the whole area really just what I needed after s long drive on a miserable day. I ate in the cafe which was also a lovely part of the building the staff were also friendly and helpful. The food was top notch I had the beef stew. I had a good night's sleep the bed was so comfortable and the room had everything I needed. Breakfast starts at 7a.m which was handy as I had an early start. The waitress was again very pleasant. I went for the full English which was perfect, freshly cooked with local produce. Well done everyone at the Purdy lodge, and thank you. I will be back on my next trip to Scotland

Room was FREEZING and food was rank

Poppy S,
When we arrived we were given the wrong room key and we we stood for ages trying to enter. We eventually found the right room for the wrong key. We put our bags down and seconds later we were moved to another room that was smaller and much colder. We had two beds but were only given one blanket so we rang reception for another blanket for them to be reluctant to give us another as we already had one (bearing in mind it was snowing!). We walked out of our room into the corridor to find it was way warmer than our room- our heaters were broken. We both had a freezing night and couldn’t sleep. In the morning, two very cold and hungry people were heading to breakfast and we were judged before the lady even spoke to us. She pulled a face and said “are you staying here” in an awful tone of voice. We sat down and found out that there was no hot chocolate, apple juice or water. Another guest spilt his cereal on the floor and hotel staff didn’t clean it up for a good hour. We ordered food, it came out and my friend got the wrong food, they took it back and I was almost finished before hers came out. The food was greasy, under cooked and was overall just unpleasant. Way over priced cafe food. We got back to the room to find it still freezing cold. Overall, the service was disgraceful, the food was disgusting and the room was freezing! Certainly would not recommend! (During the night we were both nearly sick from shivering so much)

A nice overnight stay

Niall D, Mansfield, United Kingdom
This place offered the perfect opportunity for a short weekend break in Northumberland, due to it being so centrally placed and the added bonus for us, was that it is dog friendly coupled with a distant view of Bamburgh Castle from the room. When we arrived the room was quite cold as the heater did seem to be working correctly. The staff were only too pleased to sort this and the room became cosy. In all a comfortable night, a nice evening meal and a superb breakfast. Helpful staff
