Nice venue, room not worth the price

LorraineWillis, Haydon Bridge, United Kingdom
We stayed at Linden Hall for one night as we were attending a wedding. We paid £154 for a twin room including breakfast. The room was quite nice, a decent size, television, kettle, complimentary tea & coffee. The coffee tray was underneath the tv unit & the tea & coffee in the other side, the kettle had to be plugged in else where as the unit was only big enough to accomodate the tv! Bathroom was small but clean over bath shower & complimentary toiletries, no extractor fan so got really steamed up. Radiator in the bedroom didn’t turn off so the room was really warm, the window did open, eventually, but was really hard to open. Breakfast I thought was poor compared to other spa hotels we’ve stayed in & hotels of a similar standard. Cereal, fruit, croissants, & jams as the continental or could order a cooked breakfast of the menu, I would have preferred a self serve hot option. Personally I thought it was overpriced.

Spa Day

Lesley M, Tynemouth, United Kingdom
A Christmas present for us which we finally used today. A spa day for two, with two treatments. I was expecting a high end experience at this prestigious venue, but I’m afraid time and a lack of tlc has taken its toll. I didn’t take my phone into the spa, obviously, so can’t provide photos to illustrate, but it’s quite shabby now. It’s smaller than I thought it would be, and if you pull your lounger out to recline it, nobody will be able to walk alongside the pool as you’ll be blocking the only space to walk along. We started off by going straight in the jacuzzi, but had to get straight back out to turn the jets on as we hadn’t realised the control was on a wall. There was also a sign on the wall saying the timer was temperamental - this meant broken. It started ok but never turned off. Not an issue for us as you always want the bubbles don’t you? Spending 3 hours in there, you have time to look at your surroundings, and the place needs a refurb, desperately. Wet, rotten wood around the doors, rusty ceiling dividers, condensation dropping on you when you’re relaxing. Shabby tiling in the showers. Just smacked of a spa way past it’s best. Can’t complain too much as it was a free visit, but I wouldn’t go again.

Spa morning

linzm85, London, United Kingdom
My friend and I had a great morning in the spa- we both felt the massages were one of the best we'd had and I really enjoyed my facial. I can't recall name of therapist sadly. There was a nice room with complimentary teas and fruit which was lovely to chill in. All in all good value.

Wow!!!

sabrown3, Alnwick, United Kingdom
What an amazing place. You come off the main road & travel half a mile through an avenue of majestic trees. The building itself is magnificent. Staff were so friendly & professional. We had booked a Winter Warmer package for £124 DB&B, what an absolute steal!!! Our room was large & had an amazing outlook. Huge bed, extremely comfy. Dinner was sublime, chef & the team certainly know what they are doing. The bisque I had to accompany my crayfish tails was so deep & rich I could have dived into it, the best I've ever had. The bar area had lots of comfy sofas in keeping with the historic building itself. Breakfast too was delicious & didn't feel rushed. Will definitely go back.

Birthday treat

Anne W, Whitley Bay, United Kingdom
Stayed here just for one night for a birthday treat for my husbands 70th Birthday. I booked 3 rooms for ourselves and other family members. All three rooms were very clean and spacious with 2 comfy chairs and table if required. Water and fruit were there on arrival. Breakfast was good with a varied choice. The pool , jacuzzi, steam and sauna rooms were excellent. Although this stay not of our party had any spa treatments it is something that I would definitely be eager to try if on a spa day or weekend. All staff encountered were very pleasant and helpful. We did not eat in the hotel restaurant as thought prices a little high but what one would expect for such a hotel. We were keen to eat in the Linden pub just adjacent to the hotel so we could stay in the grounds and enjoy our evening meal with a drink without anyone having to drive but after reading trip advisors reviews decided that it was not somewhere we would like to sample and had to drive to a restaurant close by. We would definitely recommend staying here.
