Sunday Lunch

Trevor R, Washington, United Kingdom
Fantastic Sunday Lunch in 14 C castle.Staff were attentive but subtle, food quality outstanding.I had Mushrooms on toast to start and they were really earthy and strong.Such a contrast to the usual insipid offering in restaurants ! The main meal was very Tasteful, I had veggie option of vegetables and Yorkshire puddings with outstanding veg gravy !,My wife had Pork, which she enjoyed. The Sticky Toffee pud and custard was divine! We spent the afternoon drinking tea in front of the roaring fire in the fabulous lounge. What a pleasure ! A real gem of a place hidden in rural Northumberland !

Cream Tea - Yes please!

MarieL0, Newcastle upon Tyne, United Kingdom
My husband and I called in on our way home from the lakes having been married here 6 years earlier so decided to stop for a cream tea in the drawing room. The drive up to the castle remains as impressive as ever and the staff were all friendly and attentive from entering the hotel to leaving. The fires in the drawing room provided a nice glow and crackle and the food ordered was all lovely (you can't beat a nice freshly baked warm scone on a cream tea), we had 1 cream tea between 2 of us which for us was more than enough (with some nice fried and spicy mayo on the side). We chatted with the restaurant manager who was a lovely gentleman and a credit to the hotel. Looking forward to visiting again.

atmospheric afternoon tea

helen g, Matlock, United Kingdom
Whilst visiting the Barl Tarn at Allendale new years eve we stopped of at a hotel the Langley Castle for afternoon tea. This is a great place we were served afternoon tea sat on big comfy sofas in front of a log fire in a medieval hall. Although this is a high end hotel there is nothing pretentious about it and the staff were very friendly and attentive even though we had just dropped in for afternoon tea. We also returned the next morning to join the guided tour, will be slashing out some time some to return for a stay in one of the themed rooms in the castle.

New Year Gala

NiallFleming, Bardon Mill, United Kingdom
What a fantastic way to see in the New Year. Check in followed by one of the Castle's serious cream teas. This isn't for the faint hearted! A bit of relaxation and then a magnificent gala dinner. A butternut squash veloute with pumpkin seeds. Scallops and pancetta. Medallions of beef that were the size of a steak, absolutely marvellous, with braised ox cheeks. The piece de resistance was an amazing by a champagne sorbet with popping candy. Finally a chocolate pud tasting sensation. Entertainment by the North East's king of swing, Mr Paul Martin. Paul is immensely versatile, all the Rat Pack hits, more modern stuff, a really nice personality and finishing with a great d.j. turn for dancing off the calories. Definitely one to book for your wedding or anniversary event. A really great night put on by Carla Robinson and her team. This was excellent value but not for weight watchers! Just a quick mention that the hotel has now upgraded its WIFI which now works across all the site.
