Crafts with The Company of Artisans - Saturday 4th to Wednesday 8th Enter Northumberland’s most bustling medieval marketplace and take the opportunity to get hands-on with some of the country’s most skilful artisans!Hosted within alnwick castle’s artisans courtyard, the company of artisans showcase their expertise with a variety of fascinating artistic techniques.

Discover how arts & crafts developed and prospered within the medieval period, as well as witnessing demonstrations exploring the skilful nature of stonemasonry and other traditional building crafts. Medieval Alchemist - Saturday 4th to Wednesday 8th Discover mysterious medicines, peculiar concoctions and bizarre apparatus with Dr John Green, the most celebrated Medieval Alchemist in the entire land (allegedly…)!

Watch in awe as Dr Greene’s unusual experiments and frankly disturbing ingredients produce some truly astonishing results. From grand explosions to deadly potions and icky materials, this medieval sorcery is bound to cast a spell on you. But be wary, as not all is what it would seem! 17th Century Re-enactment - Saturday 4th to Sunday 5th and Saturday 18th to Sunday 19th Witness a spectacular display of gun firing demonstrations, performed in the shadow of the majestic Alnwick Castle! See, hear and smell the British Civil Wars come to life with incredible live firing featuring musket and artillery.

Between demonstrations you can meet the soldiers and civilians of the Newcastle Garrison Living History Group and learn more about everyday life in the mid-17th century. Medieval Music - Friday 10th to Monday 13th Discover soothing and courtly entertainment of a medieval style, amidst the spectacular setting of one of Northumberland’s, as well as England’s, finest castles. Experience and relish the gentle wandering tones of medieval music, as you explore one of the UK’s finest cultural heritage sites, transporting you back to the medieval period! Peterkin the Jester - Friday 10th to Monday 13th Experience fun filled family entertainment, fit for the aristocracy of Northumberland, with our resident jester’s hilarious blend of medieval comedy, magic and occasional mischief!

Whether wobbling precariously on wooden stilts, close shaves with his fire-eating antics or balancing upside down on any fool he can trick into lying on the floor, Peterkin will have you thoroughly amused by his unabashed tomfoolery! So why not come and meet the traditional English fool who ‘hath not so much brains as earwax’ and experience high jinks combined with a slice of medieval mayhem. Potter-Inspired Characters - Tuesday 14th to Sunday 19th Put on your most enchanting robes, summon your favourite wand and come meet the characters likened to those from the magical world of Harry Potter!

Experience a theatrical and comical performance like no other, delivered by one skilful wizarding professor and an outrageously defiant and curious young apprentice at his helm. Performances will take place on the Outer Bailey of Alnwick Castle. Please see the 'What's on' board as you arrive for performance times.

Birds of Prey - Tuesday 14th to Sunday 19th Witness an exceptional display of medieval falconry, worthy of entertaining the old Earls of Northumberland, from two of the country’s finest historical falconers. Combined with enchanting storytelling and inspiring history, which is sure to thrill and entertain the whole family! With an extensive knowledge and a passion for historical interpretation, Raphael Falconry’s performances represent an authentic reproduction of falconry from the medieval period.
