A wonderful break!

Rpops26, West Midlands
At last minute we stumbled across this site online for a long weekend break away. Unfortunately our camper was in for repair but we’d set aside this weekend to visit Northumberland. The location was perfect, just a 5 minute drive to Bamburgh, 10 to Seahouses and 25 to Holy Island. Ideal for getting around this beautiful part of the world, although unless you fancy a considerable walk via the many public footpaths, you do need your own vehicle if staying here. The site overlooks Budle Bay and boasts lovely views from most areas onsite. Our 2 bedroom Gold Deluxe caravan was really well equipped, including a lovely starter pack on arrival including tea towel, bin liners, tea and coffee etc lasted us for most of our 5 night stay. We were most impressed with the luxury of the van, en-suite, great shower and a super comfy bed! It has a decent size tv, DVD player and radio. Great lounge and kitchen area and it was spotlessly clean throughout. Most vans have rear or side decking, perfect for a bbq or just to sit out on a nice evening. The on-site pub and restaurant was lovely, pretty reasonably priced and offers a good standard of food and varied menu - we ate there twice during our stay. Whilst this is a family orientated site, as a couple we still thoroughly enjoyed our stay! For those with children there’s a games room, heated splash pool and play area. A wonderful weekend, thank you!

Shot but sweet visit

We had a lovely 3 bedroom caravan for a brief 2 night visit. The location of the site is easy to find and well located for exploring the area. We did not use the onsite facilities, but the staff were very helpful and courteous. The caravan was pure luxury and comfort for all of us. Only the usual problem of no light over the bedroom dressing table/vanity. Very good shower and well equipped kitchen. Beds were comfortable. Look forward to returning sometime. Payable wifi with pretty good connection.

Touring Weekend Visit

JaneLowes2014, Newcastle, United Kingdom
We were looking forward to visiting this site because of the family facilities. It’s in a lovely spot but with no local village within walking distance so you are tied to the site with small children and pets. It has a nice bar on site but it doesn’t let dogs in but would benefit from a hard standing area where visitors with dogs could stay. We called in for a drink but would have stayed for longer if we could have taken our dog in. They are making a outside gazebo area where people can sit with their dogs but too cold at this time of year to use it. Limited menu but cannot comment on the quality of the food as we did not eat here. The site had just opened for the season and so I do not know if the menu becomes more extensive later in the season. All the staff we met were friendly and helpful. The park on the main site was great and on a warm summers day amazing for kids. Unfortunately the touring section was not up to our standards. We were booked onto a fully service pitch but you had to cross the grass to get to it and as one Motorhome had already been stuck in mud before we arrived we decided that we wouldn’t try it. We were directed to a pitch that was accessed straight from the road. However all the pitches are very narrow and only just accommodate the Vehicle and so you are left with no choice but to step out straight into mud. Granted it’s March and the weather has been rainy but bearing in mind this is England I imagine the pitches are often muddy. The pitches are not adequate for caravan or Motorhome. With a child and a dog it made for a messy van. So the pitches are too small and considering it was the start of the season I would have expected the pitches to be edged and neat and tidy and they weren’t. Some of the pitches were covered in weeds. Also they have a separate reception for tourers, why? Seems an unnecessary expense to me with a small touring site. The toilet block was not fully open as the site was not busy but you paid your money at the same rate as any other time so this should have been fully functioning! My husband used the partially opened toilet block and said it was clean but freezing cold. Generally the site had an unloved, unkept feel. Shame because it could be amazing. We left early and unfortunately won’t return.

Lost its personal touch.

I have been visiting this park for several years now and have enjoyed every moment until our last 2 visits late summer and halloween 2018.The staff ie the warden and the touring park receptionist no longer work at this park and what a huge difference this made to our visit. Both the late summer visit and the halloween visit we noticed the absence of the fore mentioned has left a huge hole in the touring park and are missed beyond imagination.Basicaly we found the the personal touches and pleasant and helpfulness of the site are gone. Both times on arrival there was no one to greet you and make you feel welcome at the touring office which was quite annoying as every new arrival had to walk to main office to book in.Not even a sign at entrance instructing you to report to main office. We just felt like we were left to our own devices on a daily basis and many other visitors felt the same.Whatever the reasons for this is certainly is not working and we felt really let down.
