Touring Weekend Visit

JaneLowes2014, Newcastle, United Kingdom
We were looking forward to visiting this site because of the family facilities. It’s in a lovely spot but with no local village within walking distance so you are tied to the site with small children and pets. It has a nice bar on site but it doesn’t let dogs in but would benefit from a hard standing area where visitors with dogs could stay. We called in for a drink but would have stayed for longer if we could have taken our dog in. They are making a outside gazebo area where people can sit with their dogs but too cold at this time of year to use it. Limited menu but cannot comment on the quality of the food as we did not eat here. The site had just opened for the season and so I do not know if the menu becomes more extensive later in the season. All the staff we met were friendly and helpful. The park on the main site was great and on a warm summers day amazing for kids. Unfortunately the touring section was not up to our standards. We were booked onto a fully service pitch but you had to cross the grass to get to it and as one Motorhome had already been stuck in mud before we arrived we decided that we wouldn’t try it. We were directed to a pitch that was accessed straight from the road. However all the pitches are very narrow and only just accommodate the Vehicle and so you are left with no choice but to step out straight into mud. Granted it’s March and the weather has been rainy but bearing in mind this is England I imagine the pitches are often muddy. The pitches are not adequate for caravan or Motorhome. With a child and a dog it made for a messy van. So the pitches are too small and considering it was the start of the season I would have expected the pitches to be edged and neat and tidy and they weren’t. Some of the pitches were covered in weeds. Also they have a separate reception for tourers, why? Seems an unnecessary expense to me with a small touring site. The toilet block was not fully open as the site was not busy but you paid your money at the same rate as any other time so this should have been fully functioning! My husband used the partially opened toilet block and said it was clean but freezing cold. Generally the site had an unloved, unkept feel. Shame because it could be amazing. We left early and unfortunately won’t return.

Lost its personal touch.

ericlumley, County Durham, United Kingdom
I have been visiting this park for several years now and have enjoyed every moment until our last 2 visits late summer and halloween 2018.The staff ie the warden and the touring park receptionist no longer work at this park and what a huge difference this made to our visit. Both the late summer visit and the halloween visit we noticed the absence of the fore mentioned has left a huge hole in the touring park and are missed beyond imagination.Basicaly we found the the personal touches and pleasant and helpfulness of the site are gone. Both times on arrival there was no one to greet you and make you feel welcome at the touring office which was quite annoying as every new arrival had to walk to main office to book in.Not even a sign at entrance instructing you to report to main office. We just felt like we were left to our own devices on a daily basis and many other visitors felt the same.Whatever the reasons for this is certainly is not working and we felt really let down.

Great Caravan Holiday

westyorkshireliz, westyorkshire
Just back from a great weeks holiday @ this caravan park we stayed in a two bedroomed caravan our van was one of the best I have ever stayed in. Over the last few years we have stayed in quite a few caravans this one was immaculate good cleaning standard our bed was made ready for us two white fluffy towels a good supply of loo rolls a little welcome box contained dish cloth scourer tiny bottle of washing up liquid tea towel coffee tea sugar & milk powder a nice touch the van had plenty of pots pans & cutlery nice wide screen tv & dvd player our dog joined us on this holiday we had to pay extra for her but it was worth the extra we took her on the beach every day you are made very welcome with dogs every where you go we will certainly go back to this site we had a great holiday.

We have just have come back from a excellent weekend from this campsite site super pitch 28,we have been going to this campsite for about 5yrs and it's our favourite campsite.if you have any issues they will help you out as much as they can(especially les in the touring hut) ,The toilets are always kept clean and the rest of the facilities are excellent too, theres two kids parks, out door swimming pool, restaurant, bar, nature trail, shop,So this sums the site up as to us it's the best site by far in Northumberland.

Good for kids, but awful toilets

Joannesfamily, Tyne and Wear
GOOD POINTS: Large field with touring caravans around it, good for kids on scooters/bikes. Small heated pool. Wooden park with zip wire, although a broken swing wasn't repaired. Great location to visit Bamburgh & Craster. BAD POINTS: Disgusting stinking toilets. Overflowing nappy bin, attracting a constant stream of wasps! Rubbish kids menu, usual chicken nuggets and chips. Everything came with chips. No variety on the lunch snack menu. Why not provide baked potatoes, salads or paninis? A proper cup of barista coffee would be good too, not a push button Lavazza tasteless liquid. The waste disposal point was also unclean and stinking. This is never the case on other sites I've stayed at.
