Great place

Stayed here with my other half and the rottweiler for a few days starting the 6th of August. The site is great, the showers are hot and fast, there's plenty of room for pitching tents so you're not on top of anyone else. Steve, who welcomes you when you arrive, is a very friendly and helpful chap. As it is a forest, there were a fair few midges on an evening but that was a great excuse to go to the pub at the bottom of the site (Anglers arms) the pub does great food and lets dogs in the bar. There aren't any big shops for a good many miles so take what you need but definitely a beautiful place worth a visit.

Lovely campsite

We spent the weekend of August 10th-12th at Kielder campsite and had a wonderful time. We travelled with our four children and our friends (two adults, one child) and two dogs. All of us loved it! The site is a nice size, plenty of room for our tents and enough space between pitches. There was a picnic bench and bbq stand close by which was handy. You’re never far from a water station either. Shower and WC facilities are clean and warm. There’s three sinks in the wash room for pot washing which got pretty busy in the evening but that was understandable. There’s another room with washing machines and dryers and charging points for electronics which my kids were grateful for! The kids loved the park area and it’s nice that due to the size of the camp site, the park is close enough to keep an eye on them from our pitch. It felt like a very family friendly place, although it certainly wasn’t exclusively family groups there. On our first night we got to see the stars as it was beautifully clear. That was amazing. We visited the maze (kids enjoyed it), the castle (nice for cake and ice creams) and the waterside centre which was about 4 miles away. All were worth a visit. We also had an evening meal at the anglers arms. The food was great and prices are good too. Food and drinks for six people was £60...that included a number of pints of lager too! It chucked it down on our final morning so we made a quick getaway but I’m sure we’ll be back in the future.

A lovely night under the stars!

Dan S,
Having never been to Kielder Forest prior to our recent visit, my wife and I were under the impression that Kielder village was incredibly remote and off the beaten path, and had prepared ourselves for a very basic campsite with minimal amenities. Not the case! Lots of room for tent pitching and well shaded from the wind on all sides, the campsite is ideally situated if you're wanting to explore the national park and stare in wonder at the beautiful, light pollution-free night skies! The toilet and shower facilities were well established, warm, very clean and well looked-after. There are drinking water points throughout the site and a small shop where you can buy basic camping equipment (spare tent pegs etc), bug sprays (do invest in the midge spray - I regretted not doing so when the rain brought the midges out!) and snacks. The site manager in particular was a very friendly chap who welcomed us on arrival and gave us lots of useful information, as well as tips for where to go walking. There is no mobile phone coverage at the site (or indeed most of the national park!) but there is wi-fi available in the area closest to the reception building. The car park is situated at the far end of the site and although you have to leave your car there unless loading/unloading, it's only a couple of minutes' walk and keeps the main camping area quiet and not cluttered with vehicles. Just past the car park there's a pub which serves meals noon-8pm; convenient if you're not a dab hand with the gas stove! We enjoyed our stay and will definitely book again next time we visit the area!

Always a great stay

We stayed here for two nights in July 2018. This was our third visit in four years. The campsite is well located close to everything Kielder has to offer and booking online was easy. Steve, the warden is great- such a helpful guy and he and the rest of the staff work really hard. The campsite is spotless, plenty of space, with parking available. The showers/toilets were always clean, there's a shop onsite for snacks, etc, a washroom to do dishes, washing, and even a freezer. There's a pub just next door, a shop close by, and Kielder Castle is just a short walk away. Highly recommended!
