Love this place!!!

We camped for a few nights with a hook up. The weather tried its best to ruin our fun, but as always Steve was wonderfully helpful and the facilities were spotless. Just the best place to get away from it all :)

Weekend Stay - August/September 2018

Camped here for two nights, Friday to Sunday and found the campsite to be an ideal location. Everyone keeps the place clean and free of litter and thankful pick up their dog poo. Dogs are permitted on the site and during our visit there were plenty of well behaved dogs. As others have pointed out the Site Warden, Steve gives a pleasant and well informed welcome, so well done to him. Toilets and showers kept clean and well maintained, hot water at all times. Very handy for the closest pub, The Anglers Arms, just a few minute walk and they do a good range of beers, reasonably priced food and free WiFi. You can pick up a free WiFi signal at the camps offices but I found this to be intermittent. Also free WiFi at the cafe in the Castle but didn't try that one. No mobile telephone signal in Kielder but the camp does at least have a public telephone You can hower get a mobile signal at Bellingahm but that is an 18 miles drive. I would recommend this camp site and would certainly return.

Everything you need!

This comes pretty close to my idea of a perfect campsite - all the things you really need and none of the stuff that you don't! Helpful staff, soft level ground for tent pegs, spacious & clean toilet/shower block, facilities for washing up with plenty of hot water, fridges & freezers if you need them, nearby pub, scenic spot, rules on being quiet at night, picnic tables dotted around the camping area & a small play area for the kids. Even the midges were not half as bad as I expected. Good for an overnight stop if you are on an expedition - but equally would make an excellent base for a longer stay.

Well managed site, excellent facilities and no bent tent pegs!

Three night camping trip over bank holiday weekend, arrived Saturday afternoon and I was able to set up camp away from others and thankfully it stayed that way! I did notice lots of other people had chosen to camp next to others (a practice I totally don't get), so I was super grateful that nobody set up next to me! Facilities were great, didn't use it but loved the undercover cooking area, this is perfect for those people in 2 men tents, with no way or will of keeping their stoves lit in the rain. Benches dotted around, although these were normally magnets for people to set up camp next to so I was as far away as I could get from a bench or BBQ stand area! Top showers too.... a shower on a campsite that actually had some power to it - brilliant. Ground is lovely and soft so perfect for pitching. Car park is at far end of site, you unload, pitch and park. Site manager was friendly. The only drawback, for which I don't remove a rating, is the other campers! The first night there was a lot of screaming kids and music playing after the 10pm cut off. There was also people leaving the site after 10pm and driving in before 8am (I'm an early riser so the early ones didn't bother me), I just think that when a site clearly states the rules it would be nice if people followed them - stopped thinking of themselves and thought about others - sound carries in a tent! Oh and the little girls that thought it was amusing to lock all of the loos and crawl under the stall.. you're hilarious.. really, I hope they picked up some grotty toilet born disease from the floor!! Shame the parents weren't keeping an eye on their childerbeasts!

Durty Reiver Weekend Cycling.

Majorsmam, Scotland
Booked this campsite because we wanted to cheer on the competitors taking part in the Durty Reiver cycling event. Also wanted to cycle round the Keilder Water trail too. Campsite manager was a bit miffed we’d booked but we’re not doing the event? We explained we booked because we only wanted camping? This seemed to be a huge issue for him as he then proceed to talk down at us, giving us a telling off for booking on the Reiver weekend? Still can’t understand his rudeness and due to this, we will not be back! The campsite doesn’t even get a mobile phone signal (not the campsites fault). Just spent over six weeks camping in Europe and never came across any camping problems, or rude staff..even without booking in advance!
