Set in mature gardens, Tillmouth Old School was built in 1867. Closing in 1965, it was then sympathetically converted into a private dwelling that the Hodgson family have made into their home.

Offering two spacious suites, Tillmouth (King) and Podmore (double), both are equipped to a high standard with many little extras to make your stay special. Breakfasts are made from locally sourced produce such as Craster kippers, Bamburgh bangers, Chainbridge honey, free range eggs and homemade preserves. Special diets are no problem, just mention when booking.

For those on a cycling holiday, we have a secure lock-up for your bicycles, and for those who prefer to stay on two feet we can provide guided walks upon request.

Upon arrival there is complimentary afternoon tea with home baking and preserves. We, as Northumbrians, are passionate about our heritage and look forward to sharing it with you.

Heaven on Earth

CanadaVirgi, Canada
Judith met us at the door and invited us in to the living room for tea and treats after we got settled in. It was lovely relaxing with her in the living room with a small fire burning in the fireplace. Her husband Noel lit the fire every day and it was fun discussing politics with him. The two of them make this B & B perfect. There are only two rooms and our room was the big one upstairs. It was beautiful! The bed was luxurious and had lots of pillows, the bathroom was large and clean with big fluffy towels. There was a bottle of red wine and one of white upon our arrival and the little fridge had fresh milk for your tea or coffee. We could sit in the two big chairs and look out over the backyard while having a cup of tea in the morning. She also had cupcakes in a little tin which was a nice surprise. It's the little touches that really show how much Judith cares about what she does. In the morning she will make you just about anything you would like, and it always arrived nice and hot. We stayed 3 nights and wish we could have stayed longer. This place is amazing and so are Judith and Noel. I highly recommend staying here.

Something special

It’s easy to see why this charming B&B receives almost unanimous approval. Judith and Noel are perfect hosts, doing everything in their power to ensure your every need is catered for. From the moment Judith greets your arrival with tea and scones you realise you have stumbled on something special and that impression is confirmed with a delicious breakfast the following morning. An impeccable base for exploring both north and south! Paul and Sheila.

This must be Heaven

This is our third stay with Judith & Noel and it will not be our last. They are the perfect hosts and we just love visiting them. This time my wife and I were going to Scotland and decided to spend a couple of days in Northumberland. Actually, we just wanted an excuse to return here. We cannot really add to the comments given in the other reviews as they are all absolutely spot on. This B&B is unbeatable for comfort, cleanliness and hospitality. If you are touring the county or just passing through, this is the place to stay...it's just heaven !! Pam & Eric

Short break with my lovely husband

Gina M,
Felt like a short break away with family and not just staying in a B and B . The small touches every day of chocolates placed in our room each day , the fabulous breakfasts were all second to none .atmosphere was so friendly and warm we did not want to leave . We was given so much information on local history , even getting our private guide Noel to take us to flodden battle ground and his knowledge is unbelievable . Judith could not do enough for us , everything spotless everyday . An excellent cook and the best tea maker and jam maker by far !!!!! Would highly recommend a stay here , you would not be disappointed.

Perfection Beyond Belief.

It would be totally impossible to find fault with this establishment. The hosts, Judith and Noel, are the nicest people you could ever wish to meet, a welcome like no other. You immediately feel like 'family'. Gosh, where else would you be given home made tea and scones, they were delicious! Everything was perfect and first class quality, it's virtually impossible to describe how perfect it was. Very highly recommended, it cannot be matched, can't wait to be able to return. Thank you Judith and Noel.
