breaking a long trip in the car

PAUL933CO, Kingston-upon-Hull, United Kingdom
We booked two rooms back in January to break the trip home after sons weddings. Called in in February on way back from a visit (so we knew where we were going) After a LONG weekend of the two (English and Hindu) weddings we arrived later than we had intended and had not booked an evening meal! Staff checked the nearby Pub for us but it was full. So they gave us the option of having what was "leftover" - Smoked Salmon, Lamb and a wonderful chocolate mousse - They call THAT "leftovers" ! A peaceful sit in the excellent guest lounge with tea and coffee provided then off to the modern rooms with their en suite and large comfortable beds. A great nights sleep and a VERY good full English breakfast meant we could saunter our 200 mile journey home. In February we had mentioned our sons weddings and the staff remembered this and asked to see the photos - I'm so glad I took my camera into the Dining room with me. Now I've written this I've realised I should have taken pictures for you, sorry. Those included on the site are accurate. It's a great place to break a long trip or use as a centre to go to some of the other attractions. Do try it - I'm sure you will agree it's a really lovely place.

Fabulous

Sue F, Rossendale, United Kingdom
We arrived at 4pm and were met by the gracious host who showed us to put dog friendly room, which was in the courtyard. The room was spacious and clean with fresh milk in the fridge for tea and coffee. We then went into the cosy lounge area where afternoon tea was served by the cosy fire. This was a lovely and unexpected treat and the chocolate orange cake was to die for. We decided to dine in the hotel for the very reasonable price of £24.95 per person. There was a choice of starter fixed main course and a choice of dessert. The food was excellent. We were then served coffee in the lounge, where there is a ridiculously cheap honesty bar. Breakfast was all freshly cooked with unlimited toast and homemade preserves. All in all a fantastic base to relax with 4 legged friends and explore the Northumberland coast. Will we be back. You bet we will.

Travelling solo for a stop over. Nice welcome. Easy parking off A68. Wifi worked. Had a good nights sleep. Quiet and well appointed room which also accommodated wheelchairs. Delicious well-cooked breakfast. Recommended.

Superbly run and very friendly

Chris-Stanbury, Salisbury, United Kingdom
A group of seven of us visited on our way to Scotland on motorbikes. We were all very impressed with the quality of the rooms and the friendliness of the host. Will definitely try to visit again next year.

excellent stay

Rick S,
A small party of 7 of us had a one night stay here - bed and breakfast - breaking our journey up to Scotland . It was so nice, you could have based a holiday here - we all agreed on that. We had afternoon tea in their delightful lounge. Service very good. We didn't eat here on the evening because we didn't book and they were fully booked. We walked to a nearby pub. Breakfast was very good and the staff were excellent. The rooms around the courtyard to the rear of the property were spacious and delightfully furnished. Would certainly stay there again when next on a trip in that area.
