Shaftoe's Bed and Breakfast, in Haydon Bridge is situated in an area of Northumberland that boasts some of the most picturesque locations in the North East of England.
Shaftoe's is ideally situated to advantage of the many opportunities and attractions that can be found around and near to Haydon Bridge and Hexham. Whether you are wanting a quiet walk, a strenuous hike, a cycle ride, fishing, a round of golf, horse riding, shooting or to visit Hexham Races, the attractions of Hadrian Wall Country, Kielder or the National Park, Shaftoe's provides the ideal base and retreat.
The local road network provides easy access to Vindolanda, Housesteads, Chesters, Hexham, Haltwhistle, Kielder and beyond, with attractions such as Bamburgh, Alnwick Castle, Cragside and a number of other English Heritage and National Trust properties within easy driving distance. Whilst for those wanting to have a little retail therapy; Newcastle city centre and the Metro Centre are both accessible either by train or road.
The village of Haydon Bridge has much to offer, with some lovely walks, cycle routes and fishing points, not to mention the good food from our choice of pubs, restaurants or take aways.
Shaftoe's has parking to the front and side of the property, and storage can be arranged for bicycles. The property has free wi-fi throughout. We're also happy to help with pack lunches, laundry and tourist information; just ask.
All of our rooms have en-suite facilities, television and hospitality trays. Breakfast is served from 7.30am to 9.30am. We provide a full English cooked breakfast, made where-ever possible with local produce, together with cereals, fruit salad, yogurts, porridge, breakfast pancakes, toasts etc.. We can also provide a vegetarian, vegan or gluten free alternative where required.

By road using the A69 from the East (Newcastle) (1 mi. / 1.6 km)
Turn off A69 where sign posted for Haydon Bridge, to the right. Take the first turning on the left (before the bridge and speed camera). Shaftoe's is located on the right, half way down the street, at the opening for the footbridge.
By road using the A69 from the West (Carlisle) (1 mi. / 1.6 km)
Turn left where sign posted for Haydon Bridge. Follow the road through the village, taking the first turning on the right after crossing the road bridge. Shaftoe's is located on the right, half way down the street, at the opening for the footbridge.
By road using the A686 from the South (Alston) (1 mi. / 1.6 km)
Travelling along the A686 past Langley Castle, heading north you will arrive at a junction to your left, sign posted Haydon Bridge. Take this road into the village, passing our local Primary School to your right, Shaftoe's is located at the end of the long terrace to your left, prior to the footbridge across the river South Tyne.
