Check-in for night(s)

Rye Hill Farm offers you the freedom to enjoy the history and beauty of Northumberland throughout the year, while staying in the pleasant family atmosphere of a cosy farm adapted especially to receive holiday makers, both self catering or bed and breakfast.

The bed and breakfast is in self-contained farm-buildings that were formerly used as cow byres with feed stores above, many of the original features have been kept. We have a variety of ensuite bedrooms according to your requirements, and all are centrally heated. Each one is equipped with colour television, hot beverage facilities and lovely large towels.

We provide a full English breakfast usually served between 8 and 9, with warning we can be flexible on the timings. Our breakfast menu includes things like our own home made brown bread, jams, banana bread, cooked garden fruits and eggs[when the hens are laying!], other ingredients are locally sourced where ever possible.

Additional facilities include laundry facilities, a games barn with pool table, bike shed and safe car parking.

This is a 300 year old Northumbrian stone farmhouse and adjoining barns set in its own 30 acre of rural Tynedale. We hope that you will be able to see something of life on a small working farm, with its flock of sheep, poultry, ponies and Grandchildren.

There is a good network of footpaths for walks along the riversides through Slaley forest of up onto the moors. Northumbria is famous for its rich supply of castles, roman remains and early religious sites as well as its wonderful open countryside. A week is hardly long enough to see all of it.

family wedding at healy barn

Taffy1984, Newcastle, England, United Kingdom
we have just got back from a nights stay at rye hill farm and we loved it. My husbands sister got married at healy barn so we wanted somewhere near by to stay so we searched online and came across rye hill farm and so glad we booked. We are a family of four my son is 4 and daughter is 2 so we were in a big family room which was clean tidy and had lovely views out over the farm. My husband and children checked in without me as i was part of bridal party and my husband said elizabeth was welcoming and great with the kids and showed my husband where a cupboard full of toys were to entertain the kids. We got back from wedding around half 11 room was warm and felt nice and cozy and we all had a great nights sleep children not waking up til after 8am. We went for breakfast which was tasty and really set us all up for journey home. Elizabeth again a fantastic host and very attentive my son had obviously mentioned to her he likes peanut butter for breakfast as when he went into breakfast room she showed him the peanut butter. After breakfast we sat in garden area children played while i had a coffee was so peaceful and great scenery. I would recommend this b&b to anyone and will certainly visit again.

Easter weekend camping

We have just finished a 3 nights stay at this small but lovely campsite. Facilities are clean and tidy and for the price at £15 a night is an absolute bargain including electric hook up. It is both dog and child friendly, our son especially enjoyed making camps and the mud pie kitchen. The Travellers Rest is a steady 15 minute walk away and the food is great. It also has a fab outdoors children's play area. There is also the Rose and Crown pub a bit further a field in Slaley village which also has a community shop. Improvements would be a freezer for recharging ice packs as it was red hot this weekend and possibly a separate washing up area. It's a small site so waiting for washing facilities etc didn't take too long anyway. All in all this is a great little site ideally located for such places like Hadrians Wall, Allen Banks and Derwent Reservoir to name but a few places we visited. It is also worth noting the site takes card. We will definitely be back.

Just returned home after a lovely stay at rye hill farm. Very welcoming and nothing any trouble. Elizabeth was a great host to my family and friends. Nice family room nice views and a lush hot cooked breakfast before we left. The guest house was very clean and tidy. We would recommend an overnight stay if your in the area.

This is a delightful place to stay. Elizabeth is a welcoming and friendly hostess. The bedrooms are pretty, warm and comfortable with stunning views across beautiful countryside. Delicious breakfast! We were lucky enough to see new born lambs and there were pretty daffodils everywhere. We are planning a return visit to this really special place.

Amazing gem!

I’ve just returned after 1 night here, and the only thing I regret is I didn’t book for longer! Elizabeth was so welcoming, as were her family, I loved every second of being around the sheep and lambs! The farm is so peaceful and relaxing, and I had the best nights sleep I’ve ever had, which will be down to the fresh country air and the amazing bed! Thanks so much Elizabeth, i’ll be back soon! x
