Magnificent B&B for Those Hiking Hadrian's Wall

DrRich4BNA, Nashville, Tennessee
After a day of serious hiking along the Hadrian's Wall Path, we could not have asked for a better place to stay on the Hadrian's Wall Path than Layside. Kevin was a brilliant host! He came to pick us up from the Twice Brewed Inn and took us back to the trailhead the next morning. The rooms were modern, clean and exceptionally comfortable. We enjoyed a fantastic view from our room. Our dinner was phenomenal (I believe prepared by Kevin himself) and breakfast was a unique treat that differed slightly from our standard full English along the trail. Despite not having WiFi (not Kevin's fault, the infrastructure has been put into place) we enjoyed one of the nicest lodgings during our almost three weeks in England. I would gladly stay here again and highly recommend Layside to anyone traveling in the area!

An absolute gem

FunnyBones21,
We stayed at Layside whilst walking Hadrian's wall, everything about it was fantastic. Our twin room was beautifully decorated with all our needs superbly catered for. The view over the hills from our room was a joy to wake up to and the view of Sycamore gap from the drive was an added bonus. The beds were sublime giving me the best nights sleep of the walk and the shower was amazing, a treat for our tired muscles. We opted to have dinner cooked for us by Kevin, the host, and brought to our room. It was absolutely delicious and fabulous value. Breakfast was equally great with an on trend menu. Kevin provided us with homemade and cooked packed lunches including individual quiches, homemade cakes and home cooked ham. Kevin even acted as our taxi driver taking us back to the trail in the morning. All in all a bnb that I would return to in a heartbeat.

Wonderful retreat for weary walkers

Beautiful cabin - massive windows opening out to glorious countryside. Bathroom lovely shower really good pressure . Beds to die for - they have thought of everything!!!!! One big tip - as this is a very sparse area the only other eating option is the twice brewed - ( we stopped there for drinks before going to layside - 2 double g&t £20 !!!! Food looked very basic - they do provide an evening meal at the layside - choose this far better than pub - wine available and very delicious all in our very own dining area - can’t praise this enough.

What a location...Hadrian would have loved this.

Viv18, York, United Kingdom
The location was stunning, the room was beautiful, the beds were sumptuous. The food was yummy and Kevin was a very helpful host. Waking up to see deer looking through our window was quite special. We will definitely go back with friends and book all three rooms.
