Overview

This attractive and spacious 6 bedroom Victorian property is situated in the market town of Alnwick in Northumberland.

This delightful character guesthouse, tastefully furnished throughout, sits in the heart of the Alnwick Conservation area and is only a two minute walk from the town centre and local amenities, including a wide range of good restaurants. Both Alnwick Castle, the second largest inhabited castle in England and known as the Windsor of the North, and Alnwick Garden are readily reached on foot within a further short stroll.

Award-winning, 'Produced in Northumberland' accredited, locally-sourced breakfasts are served in the light and airy Garden Room which has doors leading onto the patio. The garden itself is south facing with ample seating where guests can enjoy the early morning or late afternoon sun as they plan their activities.

Greycroft is located in a private road, allowing guest parking adjacent to the house. It has an attractive walled garden that has been described as 'an oasis in the centre of town'. Our rooms include a large single, four doubles and a twin. In addition, we have a comfortable guest lounge with a variety of books and games and a bright contemporary garden room where breakfast is served from 8.00-9.00am (8.00-9.30am at weekends)

All bedrooms have en suite shower rooms. They are equipped with colour TV with Freeview and DVD, radio/alarm, hairdryer and tea/coffee making facilities. No two rooms are the same size and this is reflected in the differential tariffs.
Single Room: This delightfully furnished, spacious single room has the benefit of a double bed, accessible from both sides. There are two steps down to the large en suite shower room. Very stylish.
Blue Room: A tastefully furnished double room with double bed and two easy chairs.
Red Room: A large double room looking out onto the garden. It has a kingsize bed, a matching bedroom suite in American oak and two leather tub chairs.
Green Room: A very large double room with bay window overlooking the garden. The room has a kingsize bed and furnishings in American oak, with a comfortable two seater sofa.
Twin Room: The twin room is accessed from the corridor down three steps. It is furnished with white-washed cane furniture.
Yellow Room: This room is also accessed from the corridor down three steps. It is a spacious room with a king size bed and matching oak furniture, large coffee table, 3 seater sofa and large TV.
Wi-fi available.

Alnwick is historically known as the capital of Northumberland as it lies centrally in the county. It is an ideal base for exploring the beautiful Northumberland coast, including the Farne Islands and Lindisfarne, and countryside from the Borders down through Kielder to Hadrians Wall. Northumberland is the least populated county in the country but is blessed with the most castles, including Alnwick, Bamburgh, Warkworth, Dunstanburgh and Lindisfarne (Holy Island). It was to Holy Island that St Aidan introduced Christianity when he founded the first monastery in 653 AD.

Enjoy the tranquility and the history of this beautiful area.

Fabulous

Fantastic B&B. The property is beautiful with stunning garden and wildlife - 2 resident hedgehogs. Our room - yellow room - was very spacious and airy with all the little extras to make our stay very special. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was fantastic with a wonderful power shower. The breakfast menu was extensive and everything we ate was delicious. Thank you to Audrey and Tom for making our stay so memorable. We had a wonderful time at your property.

Fabulous

We were greeted by the warm and wonderful Audrey with tea, biscuits and updates on local information. It’s our third visit and feels like home from home. Garden is full of interesting plants too. There is a large range of choice at breakfast. All locally sourced. Tom and Sarah, Audrey’s son and daughter in law, do the cooking and waitressing. Both lovely, friendly people. The trio have thought of everything you need for a fabulous stay. Water in the rooms, as well as a kettle to make hot drinks, biscuits, fruit, magazines, herb teas, a visitors fridge, very efficient WiFi, sewing kit, “tipples” and addictive Jelly Beans. Solo guests (I’ve been one) are well catered for. The single room has a double bed and is one of the most spacious and sweetest you’ll find. Greycroft is a great base for local pottering or exploring some of the amazing places of interest that are close by. Highly recommend.

Perfection!

We were in the Green Room for one night only. A beautiful room, comfortable bed, best shower ever and such attention to detail, including top quality toiletries and a great choice on the hospitality tray. We had the best of welcomes from Audrey and her son,Tom. Breakfast was superb, locally sourced products. I tried Tom's vegetarian sausage, scrumptious!. We enjoyed every minute of our stay, felt pampered. Worth every penny.

lovely place to stay with character....and not just the house!

Sharyn M,
had a great two night stay at Greycroft. Lovely people Audrey and Tom. Refreshments on arrival with lovely biscuits. Plenty of information about the area from Tom and then shown up to our room (red room) which was great. It had views over the garden and complete with everything we needed, which is great when you don't have a lot of luggage so the little things make a difference. The breakfasts really were the highlight of the stay with some fantastic choices. I loved talking to Audrey who made me laugh constantly :-) she even put some plastic bags on our bike seats overnight as it was raining, unbeknown to us, but to see her face when we told her they were already waterproof :-) no hesitation in recommending this B&B at all
