Overview

Quality Bed & Breakfast accommodation on a beautiful coastal spot overlooking Holy Island in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and of Special Scientific Interest.

The premises are old stone buildings which formed part of the original farm steading. Converting the smiddy, cow byre and cartshed has created 7 spacious en-suite rooms that are independent of the farmhouse and have individual front doors so your space is your own. You will enjoy modern comfort all round and be kept warm and cosy by underfloor heating.

New lounge with beautiful view of Holy Island.

Our location is idyllic with an ever changing landscape as the sea comes and goes with the tide. The farm is an ideal base for walking, cycling, and exploring the local area – particularly Lindisfarne and Bamburgh with their magnificent beaches, castles and rich history, and The Farne Islands – a haven for wildlife.

Breakfasts are served in the Granary with plenty of fresh options and cooked breakfasts made to order using local produce. Enjoy homemade jams, local honey and Northumbrian bacon and sausages with delicious free range eggs.

A wonderful B&B

Goosey2014, London, United Kingdom
Practically perfect in every way. Huge very comfortable rooms, with home made cakes provided every day.(ooh the gingerbread). One of the best showers and breakfasts to die for. The views were amazing, the walking around the farm brilliant, the number of hares extraordinary. It was great, a really lovely friendly, welcoming place.

Accommodations are great, but the attitude was brusque

megapax, New York City, New York
Our room was terrific, with a king-size bed and a small couch, plenty of room to spread out. The shower was also wonderful, and the bath amenities very nice. There were flapjacks in the room, and there were bottles of water and a thermos of milk for the morning when we checked in. The view from the lounge on the second floor is fantastic, and the honor bar was most welcome. Dinner was very good and served promptly at the time specified, though the only wines available were the ones in the honor bar, as opposed to the wine list, which was disappointing. What's lacking: hospitality with regards to food. The dining room was arranged with all seats facing the windows, making conversation difficult and sparse; for the walkers on St. Cuthbert's Way, it felt like a cold way to get to the end of our 7-day walk, not being able to chat to each other. The hosts were adamant that they needed 48 hours notice for dinner; if anyone had missed that window, there would have been no place else to eat, so would they have just gone hungry? As regards breakfast, several of us were getting up to make the crossing to Lindisfarne quite early, but our hosts were equally adamant that they wouldn't get up "in the middle of the night" to make breakfast (even though there were 6 of us), nor would they provide lunches if they hadn't been ordered 48 hours in advance. They gave us "breakfast bags" of potato chips, an apple, and a snack bar. It would not be difficult to keep bread, ham and cheese for travelers, if they really couldn't make breakfast. Discussing it later with the other guests after we finally got to have breakfast on Holy Island, we agreed the hosts' attitude towards eating seemed inhospitable, in a "take it or leave it, we can't be bothered" kind of way. It didn't ruin the trip, but we all felt it was a downer for the penultimate night of the pilgrimage. Food hospitality gets only 2.5 stars. Having noted that, the rooms were 5 stars for a B&B and the location is lovely, so if you have a car or are forewarned about the food, I'm sure you'll be fine.

Absolutely fabulous!

Beautiful! We stayed here as part of our holiday walking the St Cuthbert's way before we crossed the beach to the Holy Island. It is a truly beautiful place and the rooms are impeccably decorated with fantastic showers and a lovely welcoming flapjack was a great surprise! We thoroughly enjoyed both our evening meal and breakfast - our only criticism is the honesty bar did not have lager! thank you for a lovely stay.

Wonderful stay.

We stayed here for one night as part of a walking holiday and it was one of the highlights of our trip. Gill and Walter run a very hospitable and welcoming place and our few hours of rest in these relaxing surroundings were most welcome. The stylish decoration and attention to detail throughout was highly impressive and the lounge is a beautiful place to sit and admire the views across to Holy Island. When we arrived on Sunday, we enjoyed a home-cooked evening meal, which was delicious and expertly served by Walter, who was a friendly and knowledgeable host, a lovely man to chat to. The honesty bar was a nice touch too after a day’s walking! A great place in which to stay when exploring the area.

Outstanding!

My husband and I stayed here during the first week in September. It is very remiss of me not to have written this review sooner! Everything about Fenham Farm is first class. The rooms are splendid (we sampled two while we were there), spotlessly clean and with everything you could possibly want for your comfort. The breakfasts were delicious as were the daily cakes made by Gill. The decor throughout was calming pale blues and greens and the walls were adorned with beautiful art work done by Gill's mum. We bought a small picture for my friend's birthday; she was thrilled with it. We appreciated the upstairs guest lounge with splendid views over Lindisfarne. It was a great place to relax and read or just sit and admire the views. As mentioned by others the location is superb and we were able to visit all the places on our list very easily. We had never been to Northumberland before and loved it so much we can't wait to return. Gill and Walter's beautiful accommodation was the highlight of the trip.
