Lovely, quiet little hotel

Sophie J, Taunton, United Kingdom
Spent two lovely nights here. Beautifully appointed and quite luxurious little hotel. Comfortable beds. Delicious breakfasts with plenty of options for gluten free and vegan preferences. Nice snacks too. Very well situated a few paces from Alnwick Castle. Parking outside. Really friendly staff. Faultless, apart from one thing. The only problem was lack of evening meals. When we visited the restaurant was only open two nights a week - not while we were there. And the evening menu looks quite expensive, cheffy and restricted. There wasn’t anywhere else nice to eat in town, especially on a Sunday evening. I would suggest they offer some simple, home made soups and bread for hungry guests on nights when the restaurant is closed. Easy to rustle up from the freezer! One doesn’t always feel like checking local reviews and traipsing round an unfamiliar town, particularly with an older parent in the party, or even out into the countryside for pubs when you have journeyed for some time to get there. Recommend telephoning to check in advance.

Intimate, Characterful & Personal

John B, Westminster, London
We’ve just got fed up with hotel chains where everything is standardised and large hotels where your luck to be treated as a number and never as an individual. So if you like smaller hotels offering more personal attention with excellent facilities then stop by The Cookie Jar. Very comfortable rooms wth excellent facilities. Super breakfast all cooked “live” with great variety (do try the Craster Kippers) and very helpful attentive associates. Easy street parking outside the front door and a short stroll to the amazing Alnwick castle and gardens. We shall return

Fabulous!

TravellingRosie93,
By far the best, friendliest hotel I have ever stayed in and I have stayed in a number of hotels in this country and abroad. The staff could not have done more to make us welcome, comfortable and truly blessed to have spent time with them. The room although small was extremely warm and comfortable so much that the size did not matter. Lovely powerful shower, warm bathroom, clean towels daily, lovely toiletries spent far too long in the shower. Bed was a dream, the two nights we stayed were no where near enough. The resident lounge smelt absolutely beautiful and was very inviting. Food I would give 5 stars for breakfast and the dinner we had on one night cooked to perfection. I asked for the pancakes on the morning and didn’t really want bacon, they came back and asked me if I would like fruit and Nutella on instead which I gladly accepted. Plenty of cold selection too. The outside area was lovely, one of the staff showed us around it all was a shame the weather wasn’t warmer as I could have spent all evening outside. Very much debating whether to go back or explore somewhere new but would whole heartedly recommend this hotel to anyone, we explored a lot of the coast and the whole of Alnwick and just had a wonderful, relaxing time. Thank you so much to all staff and I would wish you continuing success with this fabulous gem you have.

Can't speak highly enough of this hotel. Designer chic, boutique style throughout, coupled with really attentive staff and fantastic breakfast. Placed on a wonderfully quiet street close to Alnwick Castle with COMPLETE LUXURY the name of the game... Power shower wonderful and size of bed FANTASTIC. Mattress/sheet quality TOTALLY luxurious. Change nothing PLEASE. Expensive but well worth the 'Designer Inspired' treat. 10/10.

Not just any tea and coffee...

Margaret M, Alva, United Kingdom
Popped in for a cuppa before visiting Bailiffgate Museum next door. So enjoyed the ambience while having tea and coffee both of which were first rate. Staff professional with just the right friendliness. Would recommend this as a place to feel 'looked after'.
