Beautiful lodge and views.

Nici W,
What a find! We came up for a 90th Birthday, and stopped here for a night. The hosts were accommodating for an early check in, rooms were clean and pleasant decor, and the views were second to none. No light pollution, no noise and a comfortable bed. Breakfast was delicious and efficiently served. This spot is a great place for a weekend of walks or just a quiet getaway. We will be back😃

Delightful Stopover

Hoverstop, Lincolnshire, United Kingdom
Stayed one night (in the main house) whilst walking the Hadrian's Wall Path. A warm welcome, with a large pot of tea and the best doorstep-sized tranche of lemon drizzle cake I have ever tasted, set the scene. Lovely room on the first floor, looking out to the southern hills; luxurious bath with shower attachment and lots of hot water, and a very large and extremely comfortable bed: what more could a weary traveller want? Oh, yes: more food and a beer or two - both of which were admirably provided via the pre-booked and substantial "Ploughman's Supper" of home-made tomato soup, with pork pie, cheese, boiled egg, pickled onion and salad, and lots of good bread. Great selection of local beers, together with a decent wine list. My cooked breakfast was everything this greedy man could wish for - again featuring local produce throughout. (Mind you, all this "locally produced" emphasis did have one inevitable drawback: the black pudding - while very acceptable and, in fact, much tastier than most I have encountered around England - could not possibly match the peppery, zesty perfection of its Stornoway cousin.) Whimsy (and black pudding) aside, Carraw has everything one could wish for in a B&B. I'll be back - with reinforcements.

A 3 Night Stay at Carraw

Alice H,
Overall my partner and I had a good stay, but unfortunately there were a few things that really let it down. It's a shame I'm writing this. We had been so looking forward to our break, but it didn't turn out to be perfect. When we got there we asked Leah if we could put the alcohol that we had brought with us, in the honesty fridge. She said it was absolutely fine, but put a note on them as in the past people have taken them out. So I did just that, I put a clear note on our bottles in the fridge. 5 minutes later, I came out of our bedroom because I heard someone at the fridge and I wanted to tell them which ones were ours, and this man didn't look at me, didn't introduce himself, and when I tried to explain to him that we have put a sign on, he was so unbelievably rude to me, telling me that someone will probably still take them etc. I can't really put into words how rude he was to me, and so I went back into the bedroom to try and calm down and tell my partner what had happened. It was actually very upsetting. I then went back to the fridge and noticed that the man had taken our sign off of our drinks... and taken our bottle of prosecco out of the fridge!! I couldn't believe it. We had driven a long way, and to be spoken to like that when we got there etc, just unbelievable. After that I took our prosecco back to the room and thought I'll just have it warm, but we left 3 bottles of beer in there The next day some guests had taken them out and drunk them but Leah did a very nice thing, and bought us more beers as a nice gesture. I could get over the fact that some guests got confused and drunk them, but it was the fact the man spoke so rudely to me and kept taking our sign off of the bottles etc. I asked him at the time if he was a guest and he just said no, so for someone that works there, it's shocking. Another negative unfortunately was the next morning at breakfast. The night before you have to let them know what you want. When my breakfast came in the morning I said to the waitress that there is no black pudding. She replied and said that I didn't ask for black pudding, which straight away to me makes me think wow, isn't the guest always right?! I then said yes I did, to which she replied that I didn't but she can go check for me. I said yes please and she came back and said that I was right............! She said that Leah hadn't got the orders in correctly so no one gets black pudding and if it's that much of a big deal I can go and speak to Leah about it. Again, I couldn't believe that I was spoken to in such a rude way. It's such a shame, because the B&B is situated in a lovely area, the views are amazing, and we couldn't fault the room etc. Northumberland is such a beautiful place, so much to see and walking along Hadrian's Wall was incredible. We found some lovely local places to eat it too. We will definitely be back hopefully some day. But with those negatives, it means that we won't be returning to the B&B.

Lovely stay great rooms

KazNsw, NSW
Lovely stay and great hosts. The room was quite a good size with beautiful views from the big comfy king bed. It was handy for my hubby to see the sites of Hadrians Wall. The breakfast was also very good. We had dinner at a local pub as you need to per request dinner if you want it on site which we had not done.

B & B really on the old Roman military road.

Desmond C, Cardiff, United Kingdom
Twin bedded room in the newly built accommodation block which has been up only 2 years. Situated right alongside the road with off road parking and really is built on the old Roman military road. They have photographs of the construction of the new accommodation to prove it. Very clean. Good bathroom with walk in shower. T.V. and tea making facilities in the room. Honesty box in operation in the communal lounge for beer and wine. Breakfast room by the communal lounge but we took supper in the farm house. Good choice of breakfast but we liked the scrambled egg and salmon. A ploughman's supper is £13.50 for a bowl of home made mushroom soup with chutneys, cheese, salad and apple. £11 for a bottle of wine is a fair price. I cannot fault our stay. Popular with walkers.
