Wouldn't think of going anywhere other than this wonderful B&B

Gillian S, Newport, United Kingdom
This is our second time to stay here. We had such a warm welcome it was like coming home. Our double room had a large comfy bed; just what was required after a long drive. It had everything we needed to make a perfect stay. The large beautiful furnished character farmhouse is situated in a wooded valley at the end of a quiet lane, yet only a short walk into a busy village and Hadrian's wall. Anne makes a tasty and hearty breakfast; home made bread, jam plus an excellent full english, not forgetting, fresh fruit, yogurt etc etc.

Fantastic B & B ideal for walking the Wall. Simply the best.

Lovely room with a warm welcome from Anne & Martin Stark. Our room was comfortable the overall ambiance was so relaxing it was impossible not to chill. The food was first rate and both hosts did so much to help us make the most of our time there with their almost encyclopedic knowledge of what to see and do.

GREAT WELCOME AND LOCATION.

JULIANTHEBARBARIAN, London, United Kingdom
Anne and Martin really looked after me - they met me at the station when I arrived, took me back when I left, and got milk substitute for me. I felt that I was a a person not a commodity in their eyes. The location is also brilliant if you are interested in Hadrian's Wall - it's about 1 1/2 miles South of the Wall so its possible to walk straight from the B&B, up alongside the stream and then along the Wall. I'm not particularly fit but I got to Housesteds one day and Birdoswold the next, with time to look around both forts. This was made easier by the good, and good value, packed lunches which cut out a trip to town just to stock up. The local bus (AD 122, geddit?) runs along the Roman sites on the Wall from (I think) April to the end of September so it was easy to get back to Haltwhistle, get an evening meal, and walk back alongside the stream. I don't usually notice this kind of thing but there were some very beautiful house plants in flower this September, and if you like old furniture you'll like the breakfast room. Breakfast included home made jam, home baked bread and locally made sausages. If you simply want to relax after a very short walk there are benches alongside the stream where you could spend a pleasant few hours.

5 star B&B

Curiosity66914,
Lovely B&B in quiet location just a mile from main Hadrian's Wall attractions with lots of walks on the doorstep. The owners Martin & Anne provide high quality accommodation and are really helpful with local information and surrounding areas. Great breakfast choice and served in a nice relaxed atmosphere and the rooms are immaculate and comfortable with lots of tea & coffee choices. Overall a great place to stay and visit Hadrian's Wall.

A complete delight

Virginia M, Swanage, United Kingdom
We stayed 2 nights at this lovely bnb while travelling through the county in late June. The whole place was spotless and full of fresh flowers; the room was comfy, the breakfast delicious and the setting magical with walks to the local pub each evening by the burn and a relaxing spot in the garden to sit and pass an hour or two. Most importantly however is the warmth of the owners Anne and Martin. They cannot do enough to make you feel welcome and give extra thought to all the small details. This is an extra special bnb to be savoured and enjoyed. I hope we will be able to visit again if in the locality.
