Belvue Guesthouse Holy Island

Check availability for Belvue Guesthouse Holy Island

Belvue Guesthouse, is the perfect base from which to explore Holy Island. It offers comfortable new accommodation on the Holy Island of Lindisfarne, for those who want to stay ‘on island’ when the hordes of tourists have to leave and you are left with the peace and quiet experienced only by those who stay here overnight.
The guesthouse is based only a few minutes walk from the shops, cafes and pubs in Holy Island village and, of course, Lindisfarne Priory and Castle, the picturesque harbour and the stunning dunes and beaches. At night you can often hear the seals sing, lulling you to sleep and reminding you how close you are to nature.

Belvue Guesthouse has two luxury studios with kitchenettes and one ‘no-frills’ twin room. As we provide cooking facilities in the studios, we do not serve breakfast, but there are several excellent breakfast options only 2-3 minute's walk away from our front door. This makes it ideal for those who value their privacy and time and do not wish to feel like they are in someone's house.

All rooms (even the budget option) are en suite with rainfall showers, fluffy towels, luxury toiletries, fast free wifi, books about the island, a smart TV (with the ability to log in to your Amazon Prime or Netflix account), adjustable heating, openable windows, a hair-dryer, free parking and many small touches that our guests rave about.

The studios have a well-stocked kitchenettes with a microwave, fridge, toaster, cutlery and crockery, tea, artisan coffee and cafetiere, as well as a breakfast table. Each of the studios has a safe and Scrabble board.

Guests have often commented on the instant feeling of peace and  tranquility in our Holy Island accommodation, and how they felt very welcome when they arrived, but enjoyed being left to their own devices once there, being able to come and go as they please at any time.

Getting to Holy Island

If you are not driving to get here, see our article about how to get to Holy Island by public transport. The nearest train station is Berwick-upon-Tweed, which is 45 minutes by train from Newcastle-upon-Tyne and Edinburgh Waverley station, respectively. From London, the journey takes about three hours and 40 minutes. It is important that you educate yourself about how to cross the causeway to Holy Island, and not take any risks. We recommend everyone visiting Holy Island takes the time to understands how the causeway works prior to arriving.

Arriving early, leaving late

Because of the tides, guests will sometimes have to cross the causeway early or leave the island later than our check/check-out times. We have a code-protected porch with luggage storage facilities which allows you to leave your baggage. Contact us if you intend to arrive early, and we'll make sure you can access it.

Parking on Holy Island is either paid or limited. Luckily for our guests, we have allocated parking for a standard-size car/SUV for each of our rooms, right in front of the property.

How to Book

You can search availability and book directly on our Holy Island accommodation website. All available dates are shown. The only exception to this are same-day bookings.
During high-season accommodation on Holy Island tends to sell out. April, July and August are especially popular and a good chunk of September is pre-booked by participants of the DigVentures archeological project.

Access information

We have written a detailed access guide to help you decide if our accommodation is suitable for you, but if you have any questions at all, please feel free to get in touch.

Our access guide is here:

Road directions

Belvue is on Holy Island itself. Follow the road past the main visitor car park, we are the seventh house on the left.

Please make sure you understand how to cross the causeway to Holy Island (Lindisfarne), and read our tips on safely driving across the causeway. It is important that you do not try to cross outside of the official crossing times published by Northumberland Council.

If you are planning to walk across the sands to Holy Island, note that the Councils' safe crossing times are not valid for that crossing, as the safe window for that route is much narrower. Find out more in the following article about walking the Pilgrim's way to Holy Island.

Public transport

Public transport to Holy Island is not the easiest option, but with a little perseverance and careful planning around tide times, you can certainly make it.

We have written a detailed guide about how to get to Lindisfarne on public transport, which you can read here:
