A lot can happen in fifteen pubs. A young man sits alone in Woodies, waiting for his friends. It’s the same day as Sarah’s hen party. They’re all doing the Otley Run pub crawl. Will they make it to The Dry Dock, and what will they discover on the way?
Join us for the northeast launch of ‘An Otley Run’, the new book by Joe Williams, an award-winning writer from Hexham, now living in Leeds. ‘An Otley Run’, published by Half Moon Books, is a verse novella telling the story of two groups of people as they spend their day doing the famous Otley Run pub crawl in Leeds.
Joe will be reading from the book, and will talk about the inspiration behind it, the process of writing it, and his personal experience of the Otley Run. This relaxed, informal event, will be compered by comedian Rosie Cole, and there will be sets from our featured guests, poets Gill Lambert and Rob Walton.
There will also be an open mic section for poetry and short prose, with a maximum time limit of 5 minutes. If you’d like to sign up, just ask Rosie for a slot when you arrive. First come, first served, but we’ll do our best to fit everyone in. There are no restrictions on theme, but if you have anything related to pub crawls or the Otley Run, we’d love to hear it. Entry is free and there’s no need to book in advance.
The pub is open all day and will be serving food, so please feel free to come earlier or stick around afterwards to enjoy a drink and some food. www.anotleyrun.com
