Overview

Just 2 minutes walk from Hexham Abbey and the market square, Ranters' Chapel is a great base for exploring Hexham, Hadrian's Wall country and beyond.  The semi-detached town house has a sleek, modern interior comprising eat-in kitchen, sitting room, three bedrooms (1 en-suite) and three bathrooms. There is a peaceful, leafy rear garden with furniture.

We have private, off-street parking for one car and there is plenty of free parking in the car park directly behind the house.

The house has freeview TV, wi-fi and a utiity room with washing machine and tumbler dryer.  The kitchen is fully equipped with gas hob, electric oven, microwave, dishwasher and coffee machine.

Public transport

Ranters' Chapel is 5 minutes walk from both the bus and train station in Hexham, so a car is not necessary.  Hexham is on the main line which runs between Newcastle and Carlisle, so there are two or three trains per hour each way.  There are local bus services as well as services to Newcastle and Carlisle and also the Hadrian's Wall tourist bus throughout the summer months.

Beautiful Home, Wonderful Location, Lovely Hosts

ScoutMidwest, Minocqua, Wisconsin
We booked Ranters Chapel for a Family Getaway with our adult children. The four us us were very comfortable at Ranters Chapel. 3 bedrooms from which to choose, all spacious and one with an en suite bath. The weather was cold, but we were warm and cozy, especially in the well equipped kitchen where we spent a lot of our time around the table. The lounge, on the lower level, has a gas fireplace, a large tv and a grand collection of DVD’s and access to a lovely garden. The location of Ranters Chaple is perfect. Out the kitchen door, you enter a quaint Medieval town, with a brief walk up the hill to the Market, pubs and Hexham Abbey. Out the garden door, and into the car park, you have all the modern shopping conveniences including a Waitrose. We also enjoyed the are around Hexham - perfect for hiking, visiting Hadrian’s Wall and country picnics. Our hostess Jo was amazing, answering all questions qickly, good with local tips and welcoming with a bottle of wine in the fridge. We particularly appreciated the wonderful binder with instructions for heat, appliances, recycling, dining and more. That binder made our lives so much easier. A few tips: Stairs - Ranters Chapel is built on the side of a hill. The entry level from the car Park is easy, but requires a climb up a circular staircase to reach the kitchen and en suite bathroom. The 2nd and 3rd bedrooms and beautiful shred bath are on the third level, up more stairs. We found d this charming, but if stairs are an issue, you might find this a challenge. Parking - we loved the free parking in the car parking behind Ranters Chapel back garden, but do be sure find a place between the WHITE lines (as opposed to the blue or the red). At night, it’s particularly difficult to tell the difference in colors of the parking lines, and there is a fine for parking between the color lines.

Fantastic place to stay

yorkybuzz, Rotherham, United Kingdom
Ranters Chapel is a wonderful place to stay, everything was perfect. Three beautiful bedrooms, three bathrooms, a massive kitchen, lovely lounge and gardens to the back. Well furnished with all the small personal touches. Had a great long weekend in Hexham. Never met the Landlady but I feel like we were staying in Jo's home and i'd know her years. Thank you we loved every minute of our stay.

Simply perfect

What a brilliant house. Perfect location (so close to bus station, railway station , shops and restaurants. The accommodation itself was spacious, beautifully decorated, superbly well equipped and spotlessly clean, with a lovely walled garden. The added touches of a bottle of bubbly, tea, coffee and toiletries was much appreciated. Would definitely return. Highly recommended.

Top Quality Holiday Home in a fantastic location in Hexham

Rachel R,
This beautifully converted former chapel combines everything you could possibly wish for in for a perfect holiday rental. It is situated within a stone's throw of all the amenities and combines this with being in a tranquil setting with a lovely long leafy garden to sit or eat out in. The property is decorated, furnished and equipped to an extremely high standard, with beautiful cosy bedrooms, comfortable beds, beautiful linen and high quality bathrooms along with a fantastic kitchen with everything you could need provided .Again all top quality! Everything is thought of, even extra blinds in the bedrooms and how wonderful to even have reading spotlights over the beds and sofa too! The fixtures and fittings are new, modern top quality and spotlessly clean yet the property boasts a few interesting period features as well. Only a few minutes pedestrian walk and you are in the very centre of Hexham by the Abbey and a few minutes only from the train and bus station in the other direction. Wonderfully placed for both M and S and Waitrose - all too easy. At the same time the house and garden are very tranquil and private and I so enjoyed listening to the birdsong in the evening and looking out onto lovely gardens at the back. The owner Jo, is lovely and so kind and welcoming too. I cannot recommend this property too highly!
