The Official Visitor Site for Northumberland
A detached, late Georgian, stone-built farmhouse, providing accommodation in style and elegance with good food.
We moved into Allerwash in September 1999 and spent the next 3 months giving Allerwash a total refurbishment. The 2 bedrooms for our guests (1 double and 1 twin) have en suite facilities added.
Open fires in the two drawing-rooms add to the warmth of the house; elegant furnishings plus antiques and paintings make this a real house of distinction.
For the previous twenty-one years we owned a pub/restaurant in the Tyne Valley. The pub/restaurant was awarded many accolades: Good Food Guide, AA Restaurant Guide, Egon Ronay, so you can be assured you will be looked after.
West facing secluded gardens are surrounded by delightful countryside. The Roman Wall is only four miles away. Within an hour, there is the Lake District, Northumberland Coast with its many castles, country homes and gardens. Beamish Museum can easily be reached and gives you an insight into how we used to live in the past. Newcastle City or the Metro Centre provide all the major shops, and only five miles away the historic market town of Hexham with its 12th Century Abbey offers a wide range of individual golf courses, good fishing and wonderful walking of wildlife to be seen.
