Northumberland's self-catering properties are of a consistently high standard. All have met an extensive list of requirements such as quality and comfort of bedrooms and most importantly, cleanliness. Minimum requirements include the following:

- Kitchen equipment to meet all essential requirements

An acceptable overall level of quality, with furniture, furnishings and fittings all in sound condition and offering a good standard of cleanliness.
2 Star
A good overall level of quality in most aspects of the property. A good standard of cleanliness and maintenance.
3 Star
A good to very good overall level of quality, with very good standards of cleanliness. Ample space and good quality furniture and fittings.
4 Star
An excellent overall level of quality with greater attention to detail. High standards of cleanliness. Layout of property more likely to be designed with guest comfort in mind.
5 Star
An exceptional overall level of quality, with the highest standards throughout including cleanliness, maintenance, range of equipment and guest care. Outstanding attention to detail with many personal touches.
