The Official Visitor Site for Northumberland
There is so much accommodation to choose from in Northumberland that we apply universally recognised star and diamond rating systems to help guide you through the alternatives.
All the accommodation on this website has been assessed for quality by either VisitBritain or the AA.
The Quality Rose is the official marquee of the VisitBritain rating scheme. Trained assessors undertake routine annual inspections and thoroughly test all facilities and services. Using a one to five graded rating, a quality score is awarded, taking into account everything from the comfort of the bed to cleanliness. They even score the warmth of welcome.
The following descriptions of what to expect apply to all types of accommodation and to both stars and diamonds. Use them as a general guide to what you can expect.
1 star or diamond: Simple, practical, no frills.
2 star or diamond: Well presented and well run.
3 star or diamond: Good level of quality and comfort.
4 star or diamond: Excellent standard throughout.
5 star or diamond: Exceptional with a degree of luxury.
The Silver and Gold Awards for Serviced Accommodation are given to those establishments that go the extra mile to make your stay a special one.
The ratings are designed to help you make an informed choice on where to stay. If, however, you believe that you have cause for complaint, take up the matter immediately with the management of the accommodation. If you are still not satisfied, then put your complaint in writing to the management. And, if you are still not satisfied, then please write to Quality in Tourism, Farncombe House, Broadway, Worcestershire, WR12 7LJ or email qualityintourism@glsglobal.com
