The Byre Vegetarian B&B is a beautifully converted stone-built farm byre in the historic village of Harbottle. Nestling in the foothills of the Coquet Valley in the Northumberland National Park it is an ideal location for nature lovers. The Byre Vegetarian B&B is as 'green' as possible The Guest's Dining/Sitting room, with TV and Video, is spacious and restful. Tea/Coffee making facilities are also here. The two guest bedrooms (One with en suite and one with a private bathroom) are quiet and secluded. A large courtyard, the parking area and covered cycle store are at the rear of the house. The elevated garden offers views of Harbottle Crags. Harbottle, a small village in the foothills of the Cheviots, has a pub and surgery. The ruins of Harbottle Castle at the end of the village are a reminder of the turbulent past. Harbottle is central for exploring the Northumbrian Coast as well as the Farne Islands sea bird and seal sanctuary, Hadrian's Wall, and Keilder Water (Watersports and fishing) - all within easy reach by car. The Coquet Valley and Cheviot Hills are ideal for walking, bird watching (upland moor birds), cycling and horse riding. Bamburgh, Alnwick and Lindisfarne castles, Brinkburn Priory and Wallington Hall and walled garden offer interesting days out. Cragside House and the interesting village of Rothbury are only a 20 minute drive away.

Northumbria Coaches route 516 from Newcastle haymarket via Morpeth to Rothbury or Thropton. Taxi service is available from Rothbury or Thropton by arrangement.
