A beautiful turn of the century spacious stone cottage amidst idyllic countryside offering peace, tranquillity, miles of woodland and moorland walks and rejuvenating massage therapies. Centrally situated 10 miles west of Alnwick, we are close to the Alnwick Castle and Garden, the Heritage coast and National Park.
We have 3 light and spacious en-suite rooms decorated in soft colours and natural fabrics giving a timeless country feel. All have superb views over fields, moorland and woodland and a selection of teas and coffee, fresh milk and biscuits. Pillows and duvets are feather and down, bathrooms are large with bath and shower, soft fluffy towels and candles.
Our large sunny guest lounge has comfy sofas, books and games, TV and local tourist information. Enjoy our lovely cottage garden with flowering trees and shrubs, large lawns and sun traps.
Breakfasts are freshly prepared using the finest local ingredients and specialities including fine Northumbrian sausage and Craster kippers. Bread and marmalades are homemade!
Lyn is a fully qualified holistic massage therapist and offers guests a range of treatments;

Road Directions

From A697, take the turning opposite to the Bridge of Aln Hotel, signed Whittingham and Callaly. Upon entering Whittingham take the 1st left turn and travel on to Callaly for 1.5 miles. Pass the entrance to Callaly Castle and continue for 200 yards untill you arrive at the top of a steep hill and the hamlet of Callaly. The cottage is on your left, look for the small 4 star guest accomodation sign. Please note; there are no signs for Callaly Cottage other than this. Please park at the far end of the gravel drive and follow the brick path around to the front of the house. Thankyou.

Public Transport Directions

From Alnmouth - 14 miles
There is a bus service between the railway station and Alnwick. From the bus station in Alnwick there is a bus to Wooler via Whittingham. Arrangements can be made to be picked up at Whittingham and brought to Callaly.

Country house - Callaly is a beautifully peacful setting and we are at the foot of Thrunton woods. The woods have miles and miles of waymarked paths that also take you out onto the heather clad moorland. Ideal for mountqin bikers too with easy and more demanding routes to choose from. I can provide a simple packed lunch with a little notice.
In countryside
Non smoking establishment - For the benefit of all our guests we are totally non smoking. However, there are seats in the garden where guests can smoke.
Of historic, literary or architectural interest - The Cottage sits at the foot of Castle Hill, a fine example of an ancient Briton hillfort, there are many more to explore in this part of Northumberland.Also the surrounding countryside has the largest collection of cup and ring marked stones in Northern Europe

On site parking - private car parking for 6 cars in our gravel driveway

Health/Fitness/ Beauty Facilities - Aromatherapy massage, Thai yoga massage, hot stone massage and Reiki. I have a treatment room in the Cottage and offer appointments in the mornings between 10am and 2pm Monday - Friday. Early evening and weekend appointments sometimes available. Please ring to book your treatment. Brochure available. Prices are; £40 per hour, £20 per 30 mins.

Catering

Cater for vegetarians - Vegetarian breakfast options. Also vegetarian evening meals served monday - friday during low seasons.
Serve breakfast - Large breakfast menu including Traditional English breakfast using local sausage and eggs, Craster kippers, homemade bread and preserves. Special diets catered for.
Serve evening meal - Evening meals are available during low seasons, monday - friday. Please book in advance.
Serve lunch - a simple packed lunch is available, please let me know in advance.

Central heating throughout - As well as radiators in the rooms, we have supplementay electric convector heaters so you can top up the heat at anytime.
Garden/patio for guests use - Lovely garden with many trees and places to sit in the sun. On warmer days you may wish to have your massage outside listening to the birdsong.
Ironing facilities
Night porter - There is a bell to ring in case of an emergency in the night.
Public telephone - There is use of the house landline. Calls are free to 01 and 02 numbers.
Separate guests' lounge - A lovely large and sunny room where you can watch digital TV, play games and read. There is an electric fire in here so you can get cosy at anytime.
