The Official Visitor Site for Northumberland
Beautiful, tranquil and sensitively planted woodland garden surrounding a pretty Victorian railway station which once served the Hexham/Allendale line. Restored in 2000, the old Langley station re-opened at The Garden Station, a centre for gardening, art, writing and cooking courses.
Between May and September, The Garden Station is the focus for garden lovers from near and far. In 2007 a very gentle and natural water cascade was constructed in the garden. A most imaginative green/eco shed with a sedum planted roof has provided additional space at the back of the station building, which in summer combines as a small exhibition centre with a weekend cafe for light lunches of local food and home-baked teas. Plants are available for sale and the additional and unique Leaning shed self-service cafe beside the station is open Tuesday until Sunday, 1st May to end of September.
Featured on TV and radio and extensively written about. The Garden Station is unique among small scale UK attractions.
