Wet Weather Attractions

Northumberland is one of the driest and sunniest places in England. Even so, rain occasionally falls and provides a great excuse to beat a retreat to our great wet weather attractions and activities!

Discover Northumberland's thriving arts scene, with art galleries, and arts and craft centres in many towns and villages, including Queen's Hall at Hexham, Berwick-upon-Tweed's Maltings Theatre & Art Centre and the Morpeth Chantry. Alternatively, make a splash on the slides of Prudhoe's Waterworld, just one of our great swimming pools, or take the kids to the lively indoor play centres of Castle Mania in Amble and Morpeth's Treasure Island.

Cragside House, Belsay Hall and Wallington Hall are brimful of stunning architecture and art, whilst Bamburgh Castle has museums, an armoury and a maze of rooms to explore. Alnwick Castle is full to the turrets with art treasures and home to innovative interactive experiences. Children can enrol at Knight's School before suiting up and facing the terrifying trials of 'Dragon's Quest.' Time travel is also possible at Woodhorn! Step back to 1918 Coal Town and discover what life was like for the North East's coal mining families. Hexham's Old Gaol, Berwick Barracks & Borough Museum and the Morpeth Chantry Bagpipe Museumare just a few of the other unique museums which bring Northumberland's history to life, whatever the weather.
