Although on-site production ceased in 1976 the 18thC Otterburn Mill still maintains an age old tradition of selling high quality textiles and craft products at sensible prices. The large well stocked mill shop is housed in the original mill building. Items of particular note are the restored 19thC water turbine and Europe's only remaining 'tenterhooks' which were used for stretching and drying newly woven cloth - from this came the term on 'tenterhooks'. The mill is also known for the world famous Otterburn pram rug.
