Best of Northumberland's local produce

From our hill-bred lamb to our tasty fresh lobster and creamy real ales, you'll be amazed at the range of foods Northumberland has to offer.

We're a culinary county, we take our food inspiration from our varied landscape and we're getting quite a name for serving up delicious creations.

We are famous for our seafood, Craster Kippers are served to the Queen and it is said that we have the finest range of fresh fish in the country.

Northumberland is home to Cheviot lamb, which carries the delicate sweet flavours of the heather of the wild upland areas of the Cheviot Hills..

We are also known for our tipples. There's the famous mead at Lindisfarne - made by generations of monks - and the legendary Alnwick Rum, first produced more than 90 years ago by the Alnwick Brewing Company.

For those who like their water we have the famous Abbey Well, which is bottled at Morpeth.

We are also home to a range of foods that are growing in fame including Carrolls Heritage Potatoes, Chain Bridge Honey and Doddington Dairy cheese and ice cream.

You'll find this fine local produce on offer at farmers markets at places like Morpeth and Hexham where producers come to sell their wares.
