Water sports in Northumberland

Northumberland is the place to come to if you like your watersports wet and wild.

It is great canoeing and kayaking territory and our long stretches of sandy beaches make us a popular destination for kitesurfing and adventure sports enthusiasts.

Alternatively, head out to the Farne Islands and dive in the company of grey seals.

Go inland and experience Kielder Water and Forest Park, which is Northern Europe's largest man-made lake, offering fantastic sailing and even waterskiing.

Queen Elizabeth II Country Park, near Ashington, is also a great spot for windsurfers.

The Coquet Shorebase Trust in Amble provides water based activities for all ages and abilities including windsurfing, canoeing, kayaking, raftbuilding, powerboating as well as a variety of shore based activities such as day skipper.
