Green cottages

Set in Glendale Valley and overlooked by the Cheviot Hills, Turvelaws is the perfect place for a country retreat. A working farm, situated just ½ a mile from the attractive market town of Wooler, Turvelaws is on the edge of the National Park making it ideal for exploring the beautiful Cheviot Hills and surrounding countryside.  The River Till (a tributary of the Tweed) runs through the farm providing guests with trout and salmon fishing, river walks, and plenty of quiet picnic areas.

Turvelaws is equidistant (16miles) between the historical towns of Berwick Upon Tweed and Alnwick making the cottages an excellent location from which to explore both areas. Northumberland’s beautiful heritage coastline, Bamburgh Castle, The Farne Islands and The Scottish Borders are all within a half hour drive. The Glendale Gliding Centre is also just 4 miles away if you fancy something really different.

Eco Friendly
The renovated farm buildings retain many of their original features, marrying the old with the new and creating comfortable, stylish and contemporary interiors.
Each cottage is fitted with state of the art eco friendly technology and in addition each is fully equipped to the highest standard. Enjoy the warmth of under floor heat taken from a natural source – each has an air source heating unit. Therma fleece (sheep wool) insulates the houses and rain water is collected, filtered and pumped back into the washing machines, toilets and garden taps.

The Dovecot 4 bedrooms/4bathrooms : sleeps 8 (10 with the additional sofa bed in the games room suitable for extra kids/teenagers). All 4 bedrooms are doubles or twins and have spacious ensuite bathrooms. The large games room has table tennis, games and books. An outhouse  leads into the utility providing the ideal set up for dropping off and drying outdoor gear, bikes, fishing equipment etc. The kitchen is spacious with a large breakfast bar, doors to patio and an open plan doorway leading through to the dining/living room which also has doors leading out to the patio/garden and a log burner. A large, private and enclosed garden sits to the front of the house and a shared (with the Smithy) courtyard is to the rear. A BBQ is provided.

Topsy Turvey :   sleeps 4 and is named so because it is indeed upside down! The open plan kitchen /dining /living space overlooks the Cheviots and a patio door opens to steps leading down to the large enclosed garden and BBQ area below. Both bedrooms 1 double and 1 double or twin have en suite bathrooms. The utility is perfect for all of you outdoor gear washing and drying. The house occupies a large, private and enclosed garden.

The Smithy sleeps up to 2 people and was formerly used as a blacksmiths workshop. A double bedroom with bathroom just next door, kitchen/dining/ living area with a log burning stove. The utility is ideal for all of your outdoor gear, washing and drying. There is a small, private and enclosed sitting/BBQ area and a larger shared (with the Dovecot) courtyard.

Golf nearby at Doddington 9 hole course (2 miles) or further a field at 18 hole courses at the Hirsel in Coldstream, Goswick or Bamburgh – all within a 17 mile radius.
