Stayed B&B early July in the Rose Room.

charles h,
My wife and I, late 70`s based here to tour Northumberland. Very good all round, from Anne and staff to comfort, food, service, location. The communal lounge and great breakfast made it more like a hotel. There is so much to see that 7 days was not enough. A vehicle was essential for us. Rothbury is an unspoilt old market town with very good reasonably priced pub/restaurants. Weather was typical for the season.

Beautiful, comfortable, welcoming.

As every second reviewer seems to say - I can't really add anything to the previous reviews! We were given a warm welcome and nothing was too much trouble, throughout our 4 day stay. The quality of the furnishings in our room was excellent and the beds were very comfortable. There were many thoughtful little touches that enhanced the already luxurious experience, like fluffy bathrobes, which made our stay feel like we were in a top hotel rather than a B&B. A huge choice of hot and cold foods and outstanding view made breakfast a treat. Also, only a couple of miles from Cragside, a magnificent National Trust property.

Well, they can't help the rain

This is an award-winning farm B&B, justifiably so. Very friendly management and staff, comfortable, tastefully furnished room with a gorgeous view across the Coquet Valley, free WiFi, excellent shower (and bath), impressive breakfast menu. Everything at least to the standard I'd expect to find in a 3 star hotel. Only problem was today's weather but I'm not going to hold that against them. Very strongly recommended. I couldn't decide about the "quaint" question. The buildings are certainly attractive though.

I can't really add anything to all the reviews, this is an excellent b and b, the views are fantastic, the welcome is wonderful and is certainly one we'll go back to and recommend to friends. It made me smile when I read one reviewer making sure they were there for 8am to get a seat with a view in the breakfast room, I wouldn't worry, the room we ate in the first morning was lovely, the service excellent and the food first rate and the views were still there when we left so we were able to enjoy relaxing in the bedroom and a leisurely stroll for breakfast, enjoying the views on the way.

Simple touches, and that view, take it to the next level

This is a 5 star, gold award winning B&B, and rightly so. Simply put, expect comfort, quality service, all the kit and caboodle to make it just right. That's why they receive these awards, but there are other things which take it to another level. To start with you get two sets of cups, one pair are mugs, one are a nice teacup and saucer set. You get a teapot and heaps of specialist teabags, coffee sachets, even filter bags. OK, so far I'm probably not surprising you with anything that fancy. OK then, how many times do you only get half a dozen tiny plastic pots of uht milk? Not here, you get your own fridge, in your walk in wardrobe, with a 4 pint bottle of fresh milk in it! Oops, did I also mention the walk in wardrobe? The bathroom in our room was also huge, with a corner bath, corner shower, red-hot towel rail and loads of room for a couple to mover around with out being squidged. Duck island products, along with herbal essences shampoo, soaps, etc make it homely and that touch of luxury. So, to the kingsize sleigh bed. A quality built item, which was very comfy, and warm. Two Ikea chairs for relaxing in, a big tv, lots of drawer space, and a view to die for. Then to top it all, there is a pair of binoculars on the window-ledge, just incase you want to be even nosier at the rolling hills, valleys, river, etc. Breakfast was a delight. Freshly cut fruit for you cereals, fresh yoghurts, or longley farm products ere available, as well as quality branded cereals. Coffee arrived in a huge stainless cafetiere, delicious on it's own. You can decide upon anything from full english through to specials of scrambled eggs and smoked salmon, or craster kippers. If thats not enough, if you're one of the first 5 rooms to arrive, you get to sit in the conservatory dining room, with huge views across the Coquetdale velley, from Kielder forest to Rothbury. OK, that's not as nice for the last two rooms to arrive for breaky, but that's a good reason to start the day early, well, 8am! We were in the Steadings. This is a suite of bedrooms in converted farm buildings about 100 yards away. These rooms have access to their own huge lounge - if your room isn't spacious enough. The property is still a working farm, and the cows can be seen strolling up the lane for their milking sessions. This keeps the place real, and very down to earth, which is natural for people from this area. Around and about there are pubs, National Trust houses, Kielder forest, and not too far away are castles, coastline, seaside villages, etc. This sounds like a very gushing review, but there are a couple of problems. We could only stay 2 nights, and we need to find some more spare time to book again. It was fully booked mid-week in early June - with guests from Luxembourg and Germany, as well as from all over the UK - a sure sign of how good it is.
