Hollyhocks is a comfortable, homely Edwardian end terrace two bedroomed house situated in the historic and picturesque market town of Alnwick. The house is very convenient for visiting Alnwick Castle, Alnwick Garden, local restraints, theatre, shops and for public transport. In fact it is only a leisurely 5 minute walk to Barter Books or 15 minutes to the Leisure Centre.
The kitchen is well equipped including a fridge and separate freezer, microwave and electric oven also a kettle, coffee maker, food processor, pans, cooking equipment, crockery and cutlery for four people. A radio with CD player and a selection of CDs for guests’ use. In the kitchen extension there is the washing up sink, a dishwasher and washer/dryer. Both the windows in the kitchen have roller blinds. A door leads from the kitchen extension leads onto the Indian sandstone paved patio area where there is a table and four chairs and flower containers and a retractable washing line. A secure side door leads from the patio area onto the street.
As the patio is secure it is ideal for storing bicycles although there is no covered area.
The large living/dining room has two comfortable two seater leather sofas, a 42” flat screen television with a selection of DVDs for guests’ use, a glass-topped coffee table, a nest of tables, table lamps, central ceiling light and a dining table with four chairs. There is a coal effect electric fire with a wood surround and a mirror over. The full length curtains are fully lined. There is also a blind at the window.
From the front door leading (via the living room) to the kitchen there is a sideboard on the left with a mirror over and a ceiling light. Local information and books with walks etc. can be found on the sideboard and stored beneath are a large selection of books and games, all of these for guests’ use.
The cupboard below the stairs in the living room houses the hoover, ironing board, iron, pegs and clothes airer.
The master bedroom is very spacious with a solid pine double bed, matching bedroom furniture consisting of bedside cabinets each with a bedside light, centre ceiling light, wardrobe with a top shelf and drawer below, chest of drawers with a mirror, full length wall mirror and chair. The full length curtains are fully lined. There is also a blind at the window.
The twin-bedded room has two solid pine single beds, matching bedroom furniture consisting of a bedside cabinet with a bedside light, centre ceiling light, wardrobe with a top shelf and bottom drawer. The curtains are fully lined. There is also blind at the window.
The ground floor bathroom has an attractive, good quality white bathroom suite consisting of a full size bath with a shower over and shower curtain, washbasin and toilet. There is a large shelved airing cupboard in the bathroom which also houses the combi boiler (heat on demand). There is a roller blind at the window
The property was rewired and refurbished in April 2009.
