Based in the charming village of Belford, this very pretty four bedroom period property is an ideal spot for families and lovers of the great outdoors to explore all that this fantastic area has to offer. The stunning sandy beaches of Bamburgh and the Holy Island of Lindisfarne are just a ten minute drive, and it offers a perfect gateway to the breathtaking beauty of the Northumberland National Park - certain to delight walkers, cyclists, naturalists and photographers.

The house is very comfortable and well-presented with plenty of space for families and groups to spread-out and relax. It can accommodate up to 7 guests and features a bright cosy sitting room with wood burning stove, a dining room with some lovely antique features, a well-equipped kitchen and a small sun room. Outside a small terrace provides a sheltered spot for dining al fresco or perhaps enjoying a glass of wine while planning tomorrow's adventures!

The village of Belford sits in the heart of Northumberland, mid-way between the historic town of Berwick upon Tweed ( 14 miles) and the attractive market town of Alnwick (15 miles). It sits just off the main A1 and has easy access links from the north and south. Belford offers a good range of local amenities including a small Co-op supermarket, two pubs and a hotel bar and restaurant.

Things to see and do....

Beaches - With over 30 miles of stunning sandy beaches, guests are spoilt for choice. Bamburgh, Budle Bay, Lindisfarne and Seahouses all sit nearby with pristine white sands perfect for sandcastle making, rock pools made for dabbling in, hidden coves and deep sheltered sand dunes ideal for cosy picnics, or stunning sunsets on a balmy summer evening.

For walking it is an ideal gateway to the Cheviot Hills and the extensive walking routes available there.  You can link into St. Cuthbert's Way from Wooler or there is a 4.5 mile circular walk to historic St Cuthbert's Cave from nearby Holburn which takes in the important wildlife areas of Holburn Lake & Moss. For coastal hikes, take time out to spot the rich birdlife on the Northumberland Coastal Path, or enjoy a leisurely 10 mile walk from Seahouses to Belford taking in fantastic views of the Farne Islands and Budle Bay.

History - the area is punctuated by iconic castles, stately homes and fortifications which are testament to the area's rich and dramatic past. Pay a visit to the magnificent castles of Alnwick, Bamburgh or Chillingham where you can discover tales of bloody battles and royal rebellion, or enjoy the stunning stately homes and gardens of Belsay, Cragside, Wallington or Paxton House.  Harry Potter was filmed at Alnwick Castle and children will particularly enjoy the wizardly magic of characters inspired by Hagrid and Harry, including a spot of Broomstick Training!

Food - Enjoy the fine local produce in one of the many pubs or restaurants in the area - everything from the freshest fish and chips to fine dining experiences! The very popular Barn at Beal is nearby with amazing views over to Holy Island, or The Ship at nearby Newton-by-the-Sea has a great reputation for serving good food along with ale from its own micro brewery.  Not to be missed is the delicately flavoured kippers from Craster, or a tipple of infamous Lindisfarne Mead.

Action-based sports - surfing, kitesurfing and coasteering is available at Budle Bay, Beadnell and Bamburgh, while canoeing can be arranged on the nearby coastal waters or river systems. There are also extensive cycling and mountain biking trails in and around the area, with the Coast and Castles route a firm favourite.

Shopping - the region boasts a lovely selection of independent shopping, including galleries, arts, gifts, antique bookshops, and producers and markets selling fresh local produce.  Explore the quaint cobbled streets of Alnwick with its eclectic mix of individual shops, take a wander through the colourful fishing village of Seahouses and its many gift shops, or perhaps take a drive further inland and visit the picturesque town of Kelso where you are guaranteed a diverse and friendly shopping experience.
