Located in a Grade 2 listed building overlooking the River Coquet, Tomlinson’s Café and Bunkhouse offers the perfect base to explore Northumberland’s great outdoors.

Housing contemporary bunkhouse accommodation, a café serving home-cooked food, outdoor activities and cycle hire, Tomlinson’s is the ideal one-stop shop for anyone who wants to enjoy the spectacular scenery of England’s most northerly county.

Our Bunkhouse sleeps 28 in a range of comfortable dormitory-style bedrooms with views across the river. You can choose from a family room or opt for double, single or bunk beds. Guests can relax in the communal lounge and our covered roof terrace and wash and dry clothes on site.

Tomlinson’s was originally inspired by our love of mountain biking – a sport that attracts thousands of people to Rothbury and the surrounding area every year. Established off-road cycling and walking trails run for miles through nearby Simonside, Harwood, Thrunton, Alwinton and the Cheviots, making Rothbury a great base to start your adventure.

We cater for both the committed cyclist and those new to the sport. Bunkhouse guests can use our secure bike storage and cleaning facilities.

If you’re looking for an introduction to the area or are new to cycling, why not hire one of our fleet of quality mountain bikes? We also offer guided group rides for all ages and abilities.

Our café is open to both Bunkhouse guests and non residents. Our menu of wholesome, hearty breakfasts, home baking, lunches and light evening meals are home made from local, in-season produce wherever possible.

Rothbury is 40 minutes by road from Newcastle upon Tyne and Newcastle International Airport.
There are main line rail stations at Alnmouth and Morpeth just over half an hour away. You’ll find Tomlinson’s overlooking the River Coquet near the junction at Haw Hill off the B6342. Roadside parking is available.

A warm welcome awaits you!
