Top destination hotel blazes a trail for region in health and wellness tourism

The North East’s original destination hotel has invested more than £215,000 on a major refurbishment of its luxurious spa and leisure facilities.

De Vere Slaley Hall near Hexham has added four new treatment rooms as part of the top to toe refurbishment of what was already recognised as one of the best spas in the region. The investment will rubber stamp De Vere Slaley Hall’s spa’s market-leading position in Northumberland with a total of nine treatment rooms, including a new Relaxation Room and a £100,000 spend on new state of the art gym equipment.

The spa industry in the UK is now big business. Attracting an annual spend of more than £5.2 billion, relaxation and pampering is now one of the largest leisure sectors as increasing numbers of people turn to the spa experience as a relaxing break from their daily lives. Health and wellness tourism is an emerging phenomenon in the UK, and this new investment puts De Vere Slaley Hall among the leading facilities offering this new type of stress-busting break.
General Manger for De Vere Slaley Hall, Grant Mackenzie said: “The investment in the spa is designed to ensure our facilities go beyond guests’ expectations with high-end luxury, outstanding treatments and now a whole new range of therapies available for our guests to sample.

“We truly feel that De Vere Slaley Hall is now one of the premier spas in Northumberland.  The feedback from guests who have experienced the new facilities is fantastic.”

In addition to the brand new pre and post-treatment Relaxation Room, the spa now also boasts Luxe Dual Treatment Rooms, where guests can enjoy a pampering session in pairs, plus a stand-alone makeup and nail bar. The new gym equipment, including Technogym cardio vascular and muscular equipment, will be installed in March to complete the transformation.

De Vere Slaley used one bedroom and a meeting room to create the spa expansion.

Like the beautiful Edwardian hotel itself, set in 1,000 acres of moorland and forest, the De Vere Slaley Hall spa is the perfect spot to get away from it all.

The unmatched facilities are available to both hotel guests and non-residents, and special spa breaks can be booked for the ultimate pampering experience.
