Druridge Bay, Northumberland 22nd September
A call has gone out for hardy souls keen to help raise money for two charities this autumn. In 2012 a hardy group of individuals made a brave attempt to break the current Skinny Dip world record, to raise money for the charity MIND.
This year there is another chance to join in for a second attempt and raise money for two worthy causes as Jax Higginson and the National Trust stage the North East Skinny Dip 2013 on Sunday 22ndSeptember 2013 at Druridge Bay.
Claire Ashby, Visitor Experience Manager for the Northumberland Coast says
“The world record wasn’t quite broken last year, and so there is going to be a second attempt. This year the National Trust is supporting the event, and so all proceeds will be split 50/50 between the mental health charity MIND and National Trust to help with our conservation work along the Northumberland Coast – this is a great chance to have a go and join in with something really different, have fun and to raise money for two charities at the same time”
Event organiser Jax Higginson says
“Following on from the success of the North East Skinny Dip 2012 we are now gearing up for this year’s event! At sunrise on Sunday 22nd September you are invited to join hundreds of others in a mass skinny dip at Druridge Bay. Nearly 200 dippers braved the North Sea last year and many have spoken of the life-affirming experience they had that morning. This event isn’t about looking good. It’s about taking a risk, celebrating our unique bodies, being close to nature, raising money for charity and maybe even breaking a world record!”
Registration is £10 per person. Participants are encouraged to individually fundraise also.
