Best Sleep Ever....

KatherineNoel, Iowa
....I don't know if that is due to our complete exhaustion or because this place is was really spectacular. We were all mildly delirious by the time we'd gotten there. We (11 & 16 year old, Mom & Dad) walked Hadrian's Wall Path in 4 days and this was our second night. Thankfully, we got a room (their last one!) or we would have been camping. We ate so much of their delicious food, we must have ordered almost one of everything and every bite was more scrumptious than the last. We decided that there was no way we could keep up the pace and carry our packs for the last two days and the absolutely wonderful man that got us our room called for a courier for us. The waitress was great and our food was served promptly. Our room was spacious and clean and the shower felt glorious. Honestly, that whole night was fuzzy but I have immense fond feelings for this place and I HIGHLY recommend it to any weary travelers!

Comfortable rooms and great beer

Lewis_England_9, Birmingham, UK
Arrived after a wet day walking Hadrians wall and so our comfortable refurbished room and the drying room were most welcome. While the room was very nice and the bed comfy sleep was disturbed by outside lights and the brightest emergency light fitting we've ever seen in a hotel room, we were bathed in bright green light all night. Someone has clearly specified or fitted the wrong type of fitting despite reassurance from the front desk that it's what is needed to meet regulations. Never seen one so bright!. On the plus side great beer (brewed on site) and nice food. We had sausages and lamb cooked two ways both of which were excellent, if a little pricey. Nice breakfast including fresh fruit and yoghurt, though cooked breakfast needs to be ordered the night before. Packed lunches were available but at nearly £8 each we gave it a miss and had a pub lunch en route for less. Comfortable rooms in a great location.

Fab!!!

Susan M,
Highly recommend this hotel if you're a walker or dog person. The hotel was lovely and the staff couldn't do enough for me and my 3 dogs. Great location for visiting the wall and the sites. Lovely food and a choice of a few real ales. Nice beergarden if the sun's out.

If there was anything else..............

Helen M, Maitland, Australia
Incredibly small rooms and beds. You couldn't get out of one side at all but rather had to climb over the end of the bed. A bathroom that was of decent size but you had to remember to duck as you walked down the passage- anyone taller than 165cm would have a number of bruises. A safety light - green- to help you see the low headroom, which could not be turned off so all night the room was bathed in a bright green light. On the positive side - it was clean. Food was ok

Quality accommodation on Hadrian's Wall

DrMaggs, Halden, Norway
Modern hotel quality accommodation but the rooms are a bit small - especially if you're hiking and want to spread/air things out. Bathroom is small, shower no bath, but does have a heated towel rail. Fantastic view from bedroom window if you're on the road side. Vegetarian food options were interesting - better than usual pub grub - but somewhat lacking in quality/execution. We had the Brie and spinach parcel with vegetables, which was a little too oily (filo pasty is very buttery anyway and the sauce was basil oil), and a cheese soufflé with chunky chips that were more like rectangles of roast potato that I'd guess were reheated from the flavour (not quite fresh).

Twice Brewed Inn replied: Dear DrMaggs, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review of the Twice Brewed. Some of the rooms are small but they are all very comfortable and we do have an airing room available for our guests to use. I will pass your comments on to our chef regarding the food we are always happy to receive feedback. Hopefully we will get the chance to welcome you back again. Best regards, Carla
