Overview

The Joiners Arms is your very own village inn; a haven for lovers of fresh, locally sourced food served up with a contemporary flourish and drinkers of all tastes, from crazy cocktails to comforting real ales. Plus, we're big into families, so kids get to eat, rest and play with everyone else.

The Joiners Arms Restaurant is lively, friendly and a little bit quirky, and the perfect place to hang out when you're not engaged in spectacular coastal adventures or hiding out in your luxe Northumberland boutique bedroom.

We are located in one of the UK’s most beautiful places, in the heart of a National Trust-designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) which fuses the best of both worlds – spectacular countryside and a breathtaking coastal location just an hour from the metropolitan hearts of Newcastle to the south and Edinburgh to the north.

Our 5 Gorgeous boutique bedrooms are individually designed to put the luxe into luxury inns, with irresistible charms like four-poster beds, roll top baths and lots of room for love.

We’re only a couple of miles from the spectacular Farne Islands, famed for its bird life and Atlantic grey seals (boat trips from nearby Seahouses are wild and memorable!); Alnwick Castle and Gardens, home of the first two Harry Potter films; Holy Island, a little gem easily reached across a causeway (just watch the tide...), and some of the best surfing and water sports, golf, field spots, walking and country pursuits you could wish for.

Here at Joiners Arms we are delighted to exclusively announce that we are opening an additional 8 rooms! These semi-self-catering rooms are nestled in the grounds of Newton Hall and are just a stone’s throw away from The Joiners Arms. Each room is individually decorated to match the same high standards of both Newton Hall & the Joiners Arms and are based upon some of the most beautiful beaches around the world. These rooms are available to be booked on selected dates throughout the year.

We hope to welcome you to Northumberland’s most luxury Inn soon.

Join us at the joiners

We visited as a treat at the end of the summer holidays and we were not disappointed. On the lunchtime that we went we booked for six people and they told us that there would be a party of twenty six in at the same time. That made no difference. The staff as always were superb, the food fantastic with generous portions and the ambience( dog friendly which suits us) was second to none. They were short staffed due to the fact that a member of staff had been in an accident. That made no difference to the service and they drafted in support. Our waitress came in at short notice, a testament to her loyalty to the pub. We have visited this place for fifty years since I was a child. Returning with my children is a real pleasure. The menu suited the tastes of fussy elderly relatives and my two teenage children. We made a point of speaking to the chef to compliment him. Definitely a Northern Star. We ate sandwiches and burgers. My fish finger sandwich was fresh fillets of fish and was delicious. Only two of us could manage the puds, which were equally generous and tasty. I recommend this place unreservedly.

Delicious food

Popped in here in a rush to grab a bite one evening and were pleasantly surprised. Staff and speed of service excellent and food was lovely too. Relatively cheap to eat there too. Would recommend.

Filled a hole - nearly twice!

CriticalMassive, Oxford, United Kingdom
A spacious pub/restaurant in a pleasant location, heavily booked up for a sunday evening. Very decent pub fare, reasonably priced. The evening we were there, we found out that they were short staffed. It became apparent that the staff who were there were eager to please, but were untrained, inexperienced, poorly managed, or possibly all three. This was most painfully apparent, when having eaten our meal and had our table cleared, our waitress laid up again apologizing for the delay and telling us our food would be coming shortly. So take an appetite, you might get fed twice!

5 star- do not think so

william s, Ayrshire, United Kingdom
Went for dinner at 1930 on Sunday having booked a table. We were given the lunch menu to choose from, not the dinner menu. We ordered the bread and olive sharing platter which was ok nothing special. Our main courses that we ordered when they arrived did not resemble what was written on the actual menu, the so called "proper" chips were a disgrace to be even called chips, when this was pointed out to the waitress she went to the kitchen, came back and said they had been hand cut by the chef that morning, sorry to say in my opinion these were pre-blanched chips that had been purchased, the salad leaves on the plate were wilted. The other main course, breast of chicken did not have any stuffing on plate, no sign of any gravy, neither on the plate or as described on the menu "served separately in a gravy boat" We did not get offered a sweet menu or coffee (maybe because we had mentioned the "proper chips"). In a so called 5 star establishment do not expect to see staff sitting at a table cleaning cutlery taken from an ice bucket whilst there were customers still eating.
