Lovely stay!

Stayed one night here and had a great stay. Rooms are typical of a gorgeous country seaside town and although old fashioned (which I liked) the rooms were very cosy and clean. Very charming place and staff were so friendly! Would definitely stay again.

Hidden Gem

KevoWLeary,
Embleton is not the most obvious stopover point if you are walking the Northumberland Coastal Path or St Cuthbert's Way, but if you choose to spend a night at the Blue Bell Inn - hopefully, like us, you will find the diversion more than worthwhile. The Blue Bell is delightfully picturesque, combining all the charm of a traditional family-run country inn, with clean and comfortable accommodation, as well as featuring fantastic Italian cuisine courtesy of it's own in-house eatery - the Sambuca Restaurant. Apparently, the younger family members look after the lively bar and restaurant, while the seniors run the bed and breakfast side of the business - either way, we were made to feel more than welcome. The rooms are bright and cheerful, the beds comfortable and the en-suite shower excellent. We chose to eat in the Sambuca Restaurant (roughly comprising the rear part of the pub as well as a separate room) and we were impressed by the available choices. Particularly appreciated were the Lobster Ravioli, Carbonara Linguine and Gnocchi with Bolognese - the menu is very reasonably priced when compared to the 'tourist prices' generally found in that area. Unashamedly, our meals were washed down with copious amounts of red wine and complimentary Sambuca (of course) and when the time to adjourn, we were all glowing and comfortably replete (further apologies to the lady in an adjacent room for an unintended intrusion). Breakfast the following morning was excellent too - the usual fruit juices and choice of cereals, and a great (non-greasy) cooked breakfast, clearly made up of quality ingredients. This set us up marvellously for the next stage of our walk. The Blue Bell has much to commend it and is great value for money - a most enjoyable stay. Kevin Sheffield
