Otterburn Mill is a great day out whatever the weather. Situated in picturesque rural Otterburn in the heart of Wild Redesdale Otterburn Mill offers stress free shopping with free parking, a large home bake coffee shop and a walk in the countryside.
Weavers coffee shop at Otterburn Mill serves a large selection of home baked food, both hot and cold, throughout the day. Our lunchtime menu changes daily, choose from a selection of mouth watering home made dishes created using locally sourced produce. Our apple orchard garden is a natural sun trap and the perfect place to enjoy a meal or snack on a warm day.
Our shop sells a diverse range of products including high quality men’s and ladies clothing, outdoor clothing, rugs and gifts. Stockists of famous brands such as Berghaus, The North Face, Jack Wolfskin, Sprayway, Regatta, Trespass, Weird Fish, Joules and Crocs.
The shop is housed in the original mill building alongside archive material that was once associated with a thriving local weaving industry. Still on display at Otterburn Mill are the restored 19th century water turbines and Europe’s only remaining tenterhooks, which were used for stretching and drying newly woven cloth and from which the phrase ‘on tenterhooks’ was derived.
On the birth of Princess Elizabeth in 1926 Buckingham Palace contacted Otterburn Mill requesting a small rug to be made to fit the royal pram. This was the beginning of the now famous Otterburn Pram and Cot Rugs. Made from 100% pure new wool, the soft and luxurious texture of the Otterburn Baby Rugs makes them the perfect gift for a new baby.
The Otterburn Village Trail, one of Northumberland National Park Rangers’ favourite walks starts and finishes from the car park at Otterburn Mill. A 2.5mile (4km) self-guided walk over a terrain of road and grassy paths.
We’re open 7 days a week. Coach parties welcome.
